Then there aren't too many opportunities out there since a total of 2 have gone...

So 20% of the offense that didn't graduate. Seems high to me considering they were 2 of the most high profile players returning on offense.

Nobody else is really good enough to go play elsewhere.

One going to the NFL, one going to his 3rd school. Not really that unusual for D1. But, I guess if there is a negative angle to be four....

Very strange.  This guy tested the transfer waters last year and obviously thought Akron was his best option.  What changed his mind?

I noticed he has a Michigan banner on Twitter. Not sure if he never bothered changing it or if it is new.He also has this as his pinned tweet.

A little confused as he was a grad transfer last season...or did he get his masters in a year and is pursuing PhD?

Looks like he  received his Bachelors degree in December from Michigan. BGS on the left side of that yellow ribbon probably means Bachelor of General Studies.

So, how did he play for Akron while finishing his degree at Michigan?

Bummer to lose a solid senior left tackle. Luckily we have some good depth on the OL now-a-days. Quigly did a really nice job at center when he got a chance to play against Ball State. Maybe whatever shuffling of the line occurs gives him a chance to strut his stuff this fall. Or maybe another grad transfer shows up. OL is the least of my worries in 2017.

Yeah, I, thought Quigley looked great and agree we have some nice depth there.

How about playing on a team that had an offense that was lead by incoherent play calling and a defense that could not stop anyone. I hate to see him go. He was a very good left tackle and the only guy on the line who could run block. he actually drove his opponent back off the line when the D knew we were going to run. I also hate losing him because he came from a top 5 P5 conference team and, to me, that gave us a greater sense of legitimacy amongst college players seeking a promising program. best of luck and thanks for sticking thru a difficult season.

I noticed LTT seemed to be the most vocal among the starters coming on and off the field last season. From a distance one could call that a "leader", I'm not sure if that's true or not. I know from following him on Twitter, he has overcome a lot to achieve his graduation. Good luck to him. Hopefully this creates an opportunity for some cream to rise to the top. I hope as a group, the offensive line becomes a strength next year, and WB gets a medical exception, and stays healthy. TBD.

Even if he finished in summer and walked in December, he used his grad transfer this year and I don't see how he would be able to "double dip". Oh well. Next man up.

I wonder if, once you graduate, you can transfer without penalty as many times as you'd like (2 transfers is probably the max possible)?

  • Redshirt Year 1
  • Play Years 2 and 3 at school A
  • Graduate
  • Transfer to school B and play Year 4
  • Transfer to school C and play Year 5
