I've seen some mocks having him go in the 5th or 6th round.

My guess as well. Tremendous upside, yet was still productive considering how raw he is and spotty QB play/offense the past 2 seasons. I don't see how someone won't take a shot on developing him.

Something else I saw. 103 underclassman declared for the draft this year. 2nd most ever.

Below is from WalterFootball.com after he declared. True, that was before most of the other underclassmen officially declared. At the same time, WalterFootball is pretty thorough, so I'm guessing they knew there was going to be a ton more early entries before making this projection:

Jerome Lane, WR, Akron
Height: 6-2. Weight: 212.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2017): 3-5.
This is a surprise. Jerome Lane has physical talent, but I'm not so sure he'll be able to separate from NFL cornerbacks, and thus he could slip in the 2017 NFL Draft. Lane might be able to sneak into Day 2, but he's likely an early third-day selection. Considering that Lane is just 20, there's no real reason for him to declare for the pros.

The Verdict: Bad move

Is he seriously only 20 four years removed from high school? Seems uncommonly young, which is a good thing.

He'll be 21 in March. My opinion - if you don't want to go to school and your goal is to play in the NFL, it isn't a bad idea to get on an NFL roster, train with an NFL team, even if you only are on the practice squad, than it is to stay in school.

He was a non-qualifier out of HS, so he's been at UA for 4 years. If he really wanted to stay in school he could have earned a degree in 4 years and transferred anywhere he chose. Based on him electing not to go that route, I don't think he wanted to attend college...any college.

We'll see if it is a good, or bad decision. We won't know for 1-2 years.

I just always wonder why you go to college for several years....whether you like being in class or not....and get so close to finishing a degree but walk away.

For the guys that are going to be pro athletes, it's not probably going to have much of a financial impact on their lives.  But for the guys who are simply just hoping to make some kind of paycheck as a pro athlete, I'll assume that it's a big mistake, most of the time.

Heck, I hated going to class, hated studying, and hated taking tests.  I'm sure I'm not alone.  But, there was no way I was walking away once I had a few years in the books.

Did Marcus get an invite?

I would guess Marcus is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery that he probably should have gotten in season. I do not believe he participated in any senior all-star games and he was certainly good enough.
