Lee Adams Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 So this likely means money,no bowl. Can't now assume Zips are LIKELY to win a game other than BG. Suppose they can try to treat the SC game as their 'bowl' game. Will be interesting to see what happens post season if they only win 5. Guess it depends on where Williams is at with this bunch. John Green sure as hell isn't going to stick his fingers in this. Quote
Hilltopper Posted November 3, 2018 Report Posted November 3, 2018 This is better than a bowl game. We play a quality opponent and we get to keep all the money. 2 Quote

HT, do you have a source for the #KeepAlltheMoney story? I can't locate that info on the interwebs! If so, is this a 3-way deal with Nebraska -- the Huskers keep the $$ from our (not) game with them, and USC hosts Nebraska in the future? I just looked at S Carolina's sked -- they have 5 wins with games @Florida and @Clemson, BUT they play Chattanooga at home, so SHOULD be at least 6-6 = bowl eligible without the extra game... Quote
zippy5 Posted November 4, 2018 Report Posted November 4, 2018 I think he meant vs a bowl game where there is a revenue split with the MAC 2 Quote

I have to presume Nebraska is going to take this as a clear reason to not pay Akron. Do we get that $1 million from Columbia? Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 4, 2018 Report Posted November 4, 2018 Also, while I can't link to it right now, a guy named Bonagura fron ESPN.com has Akron playing Georgia Southern in the Camellia Bowl! ? Quote

They cancelled their game with us, by rescheduling a game not with us FIRST they should still be liable for paying us IMHO. Akron only put SC on the schedule because Nebraska had already found another game (and were probably scared to play Akron). 1 Quote
