clarkwgriswold Posted February 5, 2020 Report Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) The 12-10 Eastern Michigan Eagles come into the JAR this week for a Saturday afternoon tilt. The Eagles have struggled in the MAC (2-7) but have won their last two against Toledo and Buffalo. They are very balanced with their top 4 scorers all averaging between 10 and 11.3 points. While their record is not very good, a review of the scores indicates that they have been in most of their games and the last two games show they have really come around. The Eagles, as in past years, are big on the front line. Seven-foot center Boubacar Toure, is averaging 10 ppg and 9 rpg a game. Ty Groce, a 6-foot-8-inch junior, leads the team at 11 ppg and 5 plus rpg. The third starter up front is 6-foot-10-inch junior Thomas Binelli. I have 2 GA tickets for the Miami game on the 22nd. If anyone wants them please PM me. Edited February 5, 2020 by clarkwgriswold Quote

Old Steve has mastered it for almost twice as long! Boeheim assistants must sign an agreement that if they ever leave they'll never venture from the 2-3 zzzzzzone. Murphy, Orr... Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 7, 2020 Author Report Posted February 7, 2020 Listening to Groce on Zips Live. He said he gave the team Saturday and Sunday off, had general pre-season-like practices Monday and Tuesday, took Wednesday off and had EMU specific short practices for Thursday and Friday. As for EMU, Groce referenced their momentum and how they're playing great defense in the 2-3. Pointed out how important it is to get points in transition before they can set up the zone. Also mentioned how they are starting to click on offense recently too. 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 7, 2020 Report Posted February 7, 2020 EMU is going to slow this game down and try to limit the Zips to a point total in the 50s to low 60s. Banks, Cheese, and Xeyrius need to get back to making their open perimeter shots. Quote
zippy5 Posted February 7, 2020 Report Posted February 7, 2020 I've said it before but this team goes with its defense. Hopefully they watched a ton of film over this break and figured some things out. When we're getting stops and getting into transition quickly, we're very hard to beat. 1 Quote

Sounds like they needed a "mental" break as well. They were getting tight. Cheese needs to be smooth and fluid...like melted Velveeta. 1 Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted February 7, 2020 Author Report Posted February 7, 2020 Tyler needs to be like a melted processed cheese-like food product. Hopefully, his game doesn't give us cardiac issues or the runs. 1 Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 Hoping that there's no rust today and that the Zips get out to a quick start. Up there, they put it away before EMU was aware the game had started. Hoping for more of the same today. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 Nice early general admission crowd Quote
NWAkron Posted February 8, 2020 Report Posted February 8, 2020 The Matt Cherry academy award nominated short they just played was really good. Emotional. Go Zips. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 EMU throwing in a little 1-3-1. Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 That may have been the worst 10-minute stretch of zips basketball I have ever seen. Quote
