@catdaddyp are these guys are coaches were familiar with coming out of high school? How are they supposed to have information on all these players entering the portal?

They may have already recruited them at some point or they know other coaches who have worked with them. Unlike high school recruiting, they have to vet these guys in a fairly short time frame.

You're not kidding. Recruiting at this level would be so much more work than it was just two years ago.

Now if we could just start signing some players!

We will soon. I’m sure plenty of offers have already gone out for other positions too. A number of portal guys don’t care for the pomp and circumstance a second time around.

As is Robby Ashford. That said, unless Finley or Bullock decide to leave, we are probably set at QB for 2025.

I say go for 'em. I'm excited to see what Finley can do next season after a year in JoeMo's system. But he's still not that dual-threat QB JoeMo loves for his system to hit on all cylinders. @catdaddyp, would part of Finley's staying at UA be a deal w/ Moorhead that JoeMo wouldn't bring in a transfer QB, basically ensuring Finley of the starting job next season?

I’m confident in saying we have no chance at landing Ashford. He’s looking to finish out his last year as a starter at a P4 and get paid. He looked the best he’s looked in his career after spending a season with Mike Shula. Ashford had no chance at beating out a healthy LaNorris Sellers, so he hit the portal.

I’m not sure what Thompson’s situation is, but a number of the AAC schools have an NIL presence and if he’s looking for some $, that immediately eliminates us.

I doubt Finley is afraid of a QB competition if another QB is brought in. He came in knowing he’d have to compete with Bullock for the starting role. The question is does Bullock stay? His people reached out to Rutgers last year and was turned down. Now that he’s shown his versatility, other schools may be interested. If that came to pass, we’d probably have to bring in someone who saw a path to becoming a starter in a year.

Bullock walked down the center of the field on senior day. I assume that means he isn't coming back?

He's pretty limited as far as being a D1 starter. He didn't show much as a WR. He's a senior (too late to mold him into something else). Maybe a desperate FCS program would give him a good opportunity to start at QB or WR, but I can't imagine and FBS program would covet him.

If he wants to play FBS football and get a free education in 2025, the Zips seem to be hands-down his best shot. With Norton and a couple other WR's leaving, there is a huge void at receiver. He's a great athlete. It would be nice if he started focusing solely on WR and honed his skills. Brookhart could coach him up and he could do some great things next year. If we need him as a wildcat on 3rd or 4th and short, he could still do it.
