UT, BUGS, & the Toledo Blade making their feelings known to the MAC higher ups 🔥 That the "premier" MAC schools are basically coming out and saying "this sucks" may be the catalyst to get rid of the weekday games. What I wonder is...is there a different TV network (or streaming partner, whatever) that's interested in getting into the game that can make the MAC a centerpiece of their (admittedly smaller) network. In a world where the NAL and IFL are getting streaming partners and games aired anywhere (not exactly for the MAC's dollars, but still)... 1 Quote

Section210Zip Posted Friday at 01:15 PM Report Posted Friday at 01:15 PM It started off on Thursday's and then other conferences started doing it and the NFL. We moved to Tuesday / Wednesday and others play some on those night but its been primarily the MAC. The NFL is experimenting with a Wednesday game this year and has expressed an interest in moving some more games during the week. This will end up burying some these games any way when it gets to this. You add this to viewer fatigue and this model could add more harm over time. Having a 3rd of the schedule on days fans can't attend in person has become a tough sell. 1 Quote

Depends on who you are selling it to. If you are selling it to dimwitted without an ounce of creativity athletic directors who will destroy the institutions they work for in order to get a higher paying job, it's an easy sell. 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted Friday at 08:21 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:21 PM I'm disappointed with the lack of neutral site games held in Florida. 2 Quote
Reslife4Life Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago I think its fine to have some games on weeknights. If we played on Saturday, November 10th I really don't think the attendance will be that much better than Tuesday, November 5th. The biggest problem I have is the rivalry weeknight games. This would be my perfect week 11 schedule played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Akron vs. Umass Toledo vs. Buffalo EMU vs. Ohio WMU vs. Kent Ball State vs BGSU Sacramento vs. CMU Quote

It's mostly about other things. Some say MACtion is a great brand. It's a catch phrase. The MAC is a conference and a brand. A brand is how others see you and you have to do things to make yourself more attractive. Playing on weeknights in empty stadiums is horrible for the MAC; therefore, it is horrible for the brand. I'm sorry if there are some athletic directors out there who may shy away from MAC schools because they gave up weeknight games. Maybe they can find other universities to run into the ground. Either way, they need to go away. Quote

If "MACtion" were tied to things like the standing-room-only crowd in Bowling Green for the Battle of I-75...yeah, "MACtion" would be a great branding. But, like you noted, it's tied to the usually tiny crowds (again, Akron's biggest butts-in-seats was that Tuesday Kent game, so good on them) on freezing weeknights. Quote
