Army started off their year with a home game against Air Force

the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.

 

West Virginia had a tough start to the season.

They played at Charlotte and Charlotte won 3-0

 

Butler opened the season by losing 2-0 at home to Northern Illinois.

 

Creighton opened the season at home and they put on a scoring exhibition for their fans.

Creighton with a 6-2 win over FIU.

 

Marquette opened at home and battled to a 2-2 draw with Oakland University.

 

Providence with a 4-1 home win over Sacred Heart.

 

Syracuse traveled to UConn and the Orangemen got a 2-1 road win.

 

Villanova opened at home with a 1-0 win over crosstown rival, Temple.

 

Xavier earned a 2-1 home win over Purdue Fort Wayne.

 

Robert Morris lost their season opener...2-1 to Drexel.

 

Depaul traveled to Bradley and the 2 teams each ended with 2 goals.

 

St. John's traveled to Baltimore and put a 5-0 beatdown on Loyola Maryland.

 

Cleveland State went out to the west coast and they lost 2-1 to Santa Clara.

 

Georgetown opened at home and they finished 1-1 against the UNC Tar Heels.

St. Louis finished with a 4-0 win over Seattle.

 

Seton Hall lost 2-1 at Duke.

 

Wake Forest opened with a 4-2 home win over San Francisco.

 

Cornell (the opponent for Sept. 8 ) does not open their season until August 29.

Early scores from Sunday August 24

 

New Hampshire defeated Syracuse 3-2

 

Creighton and Drake ended in a 1-1 tie.

 

Robert Morris got a 1-0 win over Canisius.

 

Marquette record is now 1-0-1 after they won 2-0 over St. Mary's (CA)

 

Seton Hall evened their record at 1-1...with a 3-2 win over Campbell.

 

Massachusetts got a 3-1 upset win over #24 UConn.

 

   In an encouraging score for zips fans, Dayton leads Western Michigan 1-0 at 48 minutes.   Go, Flyers....get some RPI points for the Zips

 

    Wake Forest and VCU were 0-0 at half time.

In the late Sunday games

 

Dayton got a late call to beat Western Michigan 2-1

 

number 5 Georgetown earned a 2-1 win over Rutgers 

 

Wake Forest and VCU - 0-0 draw

 

Butler and Bradley ended 0-0 after 90 minutes

Number 15 SMU defeated number 4 St. Louis 4-0

 

SMU completely dominated 

19-5 on shots

6-2 on corners 

5-1 in SOG

 

Ohio State pounded DePaul 6-0

 

Quinnipiac upset Providence 3-2

 

Number 23 West Virginia got a 1-0 win over St. Bonaventure

Nice performance by Georgetown. Would have to imagine they and Akron will be the class of the Big East based on the early results. 

 

Also, thank you UCONN for destroying WMU.
