TennZip Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago The Zips at Marquette is obviously a huge game for the zips if they want to be the 2 or 3 seed in the Big East tournament. This is also a gigantic game for Marquette. Marquette is currently #41 in the latest RPI. The cut line is currently at 37. If the Tournament committee follows the tankings, Marquette would be the 4th team "left out" of the NCAa tournament. I would have to think that a Marquette win over Akron would move Marquette into the low 30's in RPI....and position them on the right side of the NCAA tournament bubble. As you can see from the Marquette news release below, the Golden Eagles still think that they can also qualify for the Big East tournament. Marquette currently has a season record of 10-5-1. Their record in the Big East is 3-4-0. (9 points). Their record at home is 7-2-1. Marquette is a very explosive offensive team. They have one player with 10 goals and 3 assists. They have another player with 8 goals and 5 assists. Marquette has scored 37 goals in their 16 games (an average of 2.31 per game). On the other side, they have given up 23 (1.44 per game) as a comparsion, the zips are 2.07 goals per game...while giving up 0.93 per game. Marquette's best non league win is 3-1 at home against Northwestern. Northwestern has had some incredible results this year. A 4-0 win over Maryland. 0-0 ties with both UCLA and Indiana. And last night, Northwestern got a 3-1 win over #13 Northwestern. Marquette had the misfortune of playing Georgetown and Creighton in their first 2 Big East games. The Goiden Eagles lost 3-0 at Georgetown. They then lost 3-2 at home to Creighton. Since those 2 opening Big East games, Marquette is 3-2 in the league. Those 3 league wins include 4-0 beatdowns of both Butler and DePaul. One of their league losses was 1-0 to UConn. Marquette had the advantage in stats for that game. (6-3 in SOG and 4-1 in corner kicks). It is going to be hard to hold Marquette scoreless. The Zips will need to be shooting often and on target to get a road win. https://gomarquette.com/news/2026/11/5/mens-soccer-msoc-seeks-postseason-berth-against-no-5-akron 1 Quote
Zips1991 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Preview from GoZips.com: https://gozips.com/news/2026/11/5/mens-soccer-travels-to-10-win-marquette-for-regular-season-finale "Marquette (10-5-1) has won its most matches since 2013." "Akron is meeting Marquette for the 17th time in team history and hold a 10-1-5 advantage all-time against the Golden Eagles. Their lone loss was in 2013 during the NCAA Tournament." Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 20 minutes ago Report Posted 20 minutes ago Marquette's home record is very skewed with poor competition. Akron needs to maintain status quo and take care of business. Cannot wait for this one tonight. Quote
