Yes! rebar=concrete
Could have sworn that I read somewhere that the stands were going to be pre-fabricated. But dang is this thing a thing of beauty. Best part is, the fervor will continue for the next 3 months and we'll see things start to get closed in....it'll look like a press tower with stands. I was told to expect a season ticket seat selection day sometime around may next year (they're planning on moving up the due date for founders club members). They expect this thing to be up, enclosed, and safe enough for the public to be through in about 8-9 months! Excitement grows!

I can't wait until they begin installing the giant field-level lighting poles. They did keep that innovative design from the old Rubber Bowl, right?
 HEY!!!! THE FIRST STEEL OF THE NEXT 3 FLOORS JUST WENT UP!!!
DOH... it was just the small crane... looked like more steel :(
Don't feel bad. That smaller crane has fooled me a couple of times. :D

On the bright side, that is just about how high the final tower will be when it's completed.

I think 45 feet is going to bit higher then that smaller crane :DCurrently, the structure looks imposing with several floors of the press box tower making its mark on the Akron skyline. However, the tower still has 45 more feet (or three more levels) to go before completion. To this point, the top level of the tower will be the bottom of the club level, which will also house Akron’s loge boxes.

Woo Hoo! The beginning scratches are being made in preperation for the north endzone building (fieldhouse). The Sidewalk is pretty much all gone. There could be some serious digging too if there aren't any major lines running under that side of the street.
I caught that this morning. :D I expect the pace to really pick up in the coming weeks with the lower tier close to being ready to be poured and the upper levels of the tower to start going up. :D

Are those forms for the stands I see on the press box side??? :D
yup, I think so.They have the rebar in, and now they need to set up some vertical faces to pour the concrete up against for the stepping affect below the seat rows.It looks like it takes some serious time (the rebar lattice is probably quite intensive) to set all that up. It could be more than a week before they pour concrete at this pace. Don't forget how massive that whole thing is.

I'm very impressed with how much they got done. I was there a couple days ago and everytime I come by more has been done. The stadium is really starting to take shape. Seems like just a while ago they were knocking down buildings and moving dirt. It's so exciting watching the stadium being built and even the other changes being done around campus.

BUMP!Well the cinderblock (elevator?) tower is now the highest point on the grandstand, rising roughly 1/2 story higher than the steel. Looks like they've slowed down on the grandstand side bleachers. It's nice to see the buzz back on the work site now that the three-day weekend is over.

I don't think they've slowed down. I just think not as much was done today after the 3 day weekend. Methinks it will be going like gangbusters again in the coming days.

Potential Butt in seats issue for the Info??? Anybody know what the seat width at Info is going to be???"A big problem for Nebraska fans 09/01/2008 9:21 AMWell, this might be one reason some fans like to sit in suites. They have room to move around. It seems the bleachers are getting a bit tight these days. This discovery was recently made at Lincoln's Memorial Stadium. There are several Nebraska season ticket holders who sit on bleacher seats at the old stadium. As it turns out, those seats aren't as comfortable as they used to be. The material is the same but the people sitting there are ... well ... bigger.According to the Trust For National Health, which released a survey on the subject last week, the average American man's hips measured 17.2 inches in 2000, the last year statistics were available. That's 1.3 inches bigger than in 1962, when Memorial Stadium was opened. The average woman's hips spanned 19.7 inches, 2.6 inches larger than four decades before.Since the bleachers were designed with seats to be 18 inches apart, you can see the problem. It's getting a little tight in the seats.Katie McMichael, a longtime season ticket older in the stadium's West End (which is totally bleachered), describes it this way: "You're hot, and you're crowded," she said. "It's just plain uncomfortable."School officials have tried to work with the big issue. They installed fiberglass covers on the steel bleachers. That may be better to sit on but it doesn't do much for the big picture: Studies show Nebraskans are among the biggest people in the country. A study suggests the rows would have to be six feet longer than they were originally constructed to get two inches of room between each person. As it turns out, Nebraskans aren't the only ones struggling with this weighty issue. At the University of Mississippi, seats are alloted at 18 inches apart. That's better than Nebraska but still a little snug. That's because Mississippi is considered to be, on average, to be among the biggest people in the country. Folsom Field in Colorado also goes the 18-inch route but this is considered our leanest state. Life is better there.Otrher schools don't want to talk about this issue. At the University of Michigan, school officials refuse to discuss the width of the Big House but some folks have measured the seats at 17 inches. All the stadiums mentioned here are older venues so any significant changes in the bleachers are highly unlikely. McMichael probably spoke for all season ticket holders of the schools when she said, "Heck, if it were standing room only, we'd still go," she said. "

That article explains what's wrong with the mentality of how stadium (and arena) seating is designed, and it doesn't even know it.It focused on hip width. For many people, particularly men, their shoulders, and more importantly elbows, are wider than their hips. Hence the common term "elbow room".I cannot stand being packed in next to someone so close that atleast half of the spectators have to stick their freaking arms in your lap just to fit.
