  1. Woooo what a win! Totally worth the drive and getting 5 hours of sleep and still trying to get 70 hours this week. Decided to splurge and sat second row of court side behind the hoop closest to the zips bench. Saw Reggie get totally drilled with a bow, and came back to hit the huge 3. We've talked a lot about the zips legs eventually not being there for all the 3 point attempts, but it doesn't matter when you're playing D like that. Keep holding teams to 50 and you don't have to make too many shots. Tomorrow is gonna be a battle, but why not win the whole dang thing now?

  2. This team has exceeded just about all of my expectations. We've become a very mentally tough group as it would have been pretty easy to quit last night Knowing that I may be tagged as easy to please I'd say that anything from here out is gravy for me. Don't get me wrong, I still have an eye on the prize, but I'll call this a pretty darn successful season regardless of what happens tonight. I'd sure still love to be the guys who send that little weenie Hurley packing though........

  3. I contend we're "fortunate." Ohio State fans are spoiled. Kentucky fans are spoiled. Zips fans are hardscrabble motherf*ckers that deserve something special like what this basketball team is providing. I sat through a decade-and-a-half worth of Coleman Crawford and Dan Hipsher...seeing great basketball seasons implode as knees get blown out... players punching coaches... opponents banking-in dream-killing, 3-point buzzer-beaters... Five Pound Friday.... MAC POTY candidates prematurely leaving the program under often program-embarrassing circumstances...VCU...and the list could go on. In this week alone, I've driven 30 minutes back and forth to support the team in Akron, and 50 minutes back and forth, twice, to support them in Cleveland, getting home with my son after midnight during the week, all in support of the Zips. There's few things that irk me more than when someone calls me, or any other Zips fan "spoiled." We're fortunate to have the run we've experienced over the past 11 years, but we are not spoiled. We paid a lot of dues along the way, and deserve whatever thrills, fun, and satisfaction we experience in supporting the team.

  4. glad to see that Wright State will travel to Pittsburgh as well. Jared obviously wanted many guys to get playing time so glad to see that they will be able to play 2 games. AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer team under the direction of third-year head coach Jared Embick will open its spring exhibition schedule this Sunday, March 15, as the Zips travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to battle the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL (United Soccer Leagues) and Wright State. Game times at Highmark Stadium are set for 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.

  6. I think it's best for everyone's sake that they are at home tonight.

  7. The great thing is that this guy probably felt like the biggest fool on the planet when he walked out onto the streets after the loss.

  8. All week, I felt like we would get 2 wins, and had a chance to get 3, but I have been referring to this Buffalo game as the "Brick Wall" of this tournament. Lets hope that my Game 4 vision is a serious miscalculation. I just have no idea how we'll get this done tonight. I'm just happy to be spending another Friday in Cleveland partying in March.

  9. I have experienced a lot of emotions as a Zips fan throughout the decades, I have yet to experience being "spoiled."

  10. Lose your starting power forward before the season starts. Lose your starting point guard. Have several of your rotation players sick or injured at various points in the season. This season is one of the greatest coaching exhibitions ever. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. For all those that think the refs are out to get us. In the Can't game, Can't had 21 fouls to our 15, we shot 24 foul shots to their 17. Most importantly, after Can't took a double digit lead, KD called a time out and Kwan took the ball and bounced hard into the floor and it went up about 15 feet. Instead of calling a T, the ref went to talk to Kwan. He could have called a T but understood that the player was just upset. The refs let the teams play and it was a very well officiated game.

  12. Happy to say the officiating was OK tonight, and I would say the same if the Zips had lost. A few questionable calls both ways, which there will always be. You can't ask for more than that from normal humans.

  13. I clearly heard the buzzer go off just before the ball left Manley's hands and was certain that a video check would show the shot didn't count. Before he got the shot off, though, Manley slipped, fell and skidded a couple of feet on the floor, which in my book was traveling. Then again, I'm not a ref. On Kwan's pair of banked 3-pointers, they weren't luck. In warmups Kwan was practicing banked 3-pointers and at one point hit 7 in a row. It's a real shot, not a fluke. Kwan was also great on defense, though it's unfair to single any one player out when the team as a whole played great defense the whole game. Then again you have to single out Pat's amazing performance of 12 points in just 13 minutes. The amazing stat of the day is that Pat scored 23% of the Zips' total points while playing just 6% of the team's total minutes. Without Pat the Zips would have been in big trouble tonight.

  14. Yep, we should have a deed on them. It's no wonder Keith speaks so highly of Senderoff

  15. Akron has knocked Can't State out of the MAC Tournament four of the last five years and won 10 in the last 14 games

  16. Character, coaching, defense and guts. Don't know if I've ever been more emotionally vested into a game as this one.

  17. As usual, the official bar for the Zips in Cleveland is a massive letdown (no one under 21? What were they thinking?!) so I'm just giving everyone a heads up that a sizeable group of alumni and current Rowdies will be at Wilbert's prior to the game. The owner has been Zips-friendly for years and as always they have awesome deals ($2 all domestic bottles, $3 bombs, etc.) and probably the best beef brisket and BBQ ribs downtown. So if you're sick of being squished into the Winking Lizard or just can't get in, feel free to cross the street and join our unofficial party. 812 Huron Rd E, Cleveland, OH 44115
