Agreed. Shoulder injuries are no joke, especially when you play a position where your arms are constantly up either calling for the ball, rebounding, or putting up mini-hook shots. Look at Aaron Jackson. His shoulder injury is to a lesser extent, but the guy is always running to the bench with a limp arm after making a play. This thread is about thanking our seniors, not questioning their heart and toughness. Thank you Jake, Reggie, and Pat! Go finish your careers in the Big Dance.2 points

KD indicated on the post game show that the No. 1 seed was given the early game to give them the most rest and an advantage over the rest of the field. He stated that a couple of years ago Kent was the one seed and played the late game every night that worked to their disadvantage.2 points

Did anyone expect Ivey to out score Reggie? I'd love to see more of that from Jimond. Defend well, get to the bucket, make some foul shots with his 10 or so minutes.2 points

Perhaps y'all think the whole haiku thing is played out, but it always was a favorite of mine. Maybe looking at some of the gems from yesteryear will inspire some new material. http://zipsnation.org/forums/topic/31086-cant-haiku/#comment-219865 http://zipsnation.org/forums/topic/25455-the-i-hate-cant-haiku-a-thon/#comment-168005 http://zipsnation.org/forums/topic/13935-the-i-hate-cant-haiku-contest/#comment-838251 point

Don't forget setting screens, sealing your player, and I saw a lot of cheap shots underneath by Kent State last night. Thanks, Seniors!!1 point

I remember the way he was acting when we played them in Ken+. I wasn't sure he would pull the same antics in Akron. 1) I already talked about the Technical. 2) I don't know if anyone else saw him jawing in Reggie's ear when Reggie was standing on the foul line when everyone was coming back on the floor after a timeout in the first half. Reggie totally ignored him and just kept looking at the basket. 3) I also heard afterward from some people right by the Akron bench that Hall was taunting our bench all night. The officials talked to him about it twice. I don't remember seeing that happening from where I was at. 4) When Big Dog went to the floor and tweaked his ankle, wasn't that Hall that he got tangled up with? I'd love to see that play again.1 point

It is 2016, right? I know the JAR is archaic but this needs to be something permanently implemented.1 point

If you watch him closely, he also seems to always be able to get a hand on a pass somewhere that results in a turnover, or tip a rebound out to someone else, etc. So he does more things than what you see on a stat sheet. Every coach wishes that they have players who put out his kind of effort. He could be a very good player if he learns to temper his enthusiasm enough to be more productive on the offensive end.1 point

Here's what's funny: We pretty much played identically, offensively, to the game at Ken+ a few weeks ago, but completely changed the result. Ken+ scored 85 in Ken+, and could only muster 60 in the JAR. We created turnovers in the paint. I said this would be a key earlier. The guards came back a lot to help, got in passing lanes, and swatted balls from their post players from a lot of different directions. We were completely focused on the defensive end, and played with far more energy this time. Hall was frustrated as hell, and I hope he goes to bed tonight understanding that his foolish technical for having a punk-a$$ attitude created the points that got us over the hump from a 5-6 point game into a blowout.1 point

They said it's a great venue for college basketball. It looks good on TV when it's full. They did a lot of panoramic shots and didn't have to worry about avoiding empty seats. There were a few outside shots around campus as well.1 point

I caught some of the game on the iphone on the drive home... was I mistaken, or did hear the announcers say the JAR is an impressive facility?! Oy....1 point

Yeah, standing in line over there was brutal sometimes and some of the "assistance" that was offered was just as brutal. Just look at how easy things are now for the students.1 point

You have to remember there are 32 auto bids awarded. In order for Akron to get a 12 seed they have to be regarded as being better than 18 of those auto bid teams. 10 of those are 15 and 16 seed teams that have no chance of catching Akron even if Akron lost to Kent. From there you have the OVC and Southland conference whose best teams are already decently behind Akron and play in conferences much weaker than the MAC so Akron should only further distance itself. Eliminating the 9 projected multi bid conferences plus the ones I mentioned already that leaves the below. America East - Best team RPI 66 with 212 SOS. SOS will continue to drop as the strongest opponent that they can face in conference tourney is 145. Next opponent RPI 296. Big West - Best team RPI 91 with a 280 SOS. Plays in weaker conference than MAC so Akron would separate themselves. CAA - Comparable conference to the MAC. It's 50/50 if Akron would be higher than top team Horizon - Valpo would be higher than MAC, however if upset Akron would top their auto-bid team Ivy - Best team has comparable resume to Akron, but no conference tournament gives them no chance of boosting it MAAC - Monmouth would be ahead of Akron, but if they get upset Akron would top their auto bid MVC - Wichita State easily tops Akron, Evansville or any other MVC team that potentially upsets Wichita State not so much Mountain West - Sand Diego State is ahead of Akron, but if they get knocked out Akron would top whoever upsets them Southern - Akron should be able to distance itself from Chattanooga whose conference tournament features a bunch of cupcakes Sunbelt - Ark-Little Rock would likely stay above Akron by winning its poor conference. If upset that team would be well behind Akron. Moral of the story is we need to cheer for 2nd and 3rd place teams to win auto bids of 1 bid conference. In cases like Wichita State they would make the tournament anyways, but that doesn't hinder us b/c we aren't vying for an at-large bid.1 point
