Could have been 4 or 5 goals for the guys, but good goalkeeping by the Wildcat man in net, and lack of final touches kept it closer than it might have been. Did Villanova ever get that first shot-on-goal? Anyway, nice start to the post-season, and I feel good about heading out to play our biggest rivals on Sunday. Just beat those Hoosers.3 points

Akron and the rest of the MAC can think of about a million reasons each why its a good reason for WMU to get there. I've posted breakdowns earlier in this thread. I care a lot more about money than some meaningless perception that doesn't affect my team.2 points

It seems to me like the Zips are beginning to get their swagger back. The touch line save by Soares, that lead to Lewis flying down on the right and ultimately feeding Hinds for the clincher, was simply fantastic. I'm not sure I've seen a better example of teamwork on a very important goal. The lineup seems to be settling in quite nicely at just the right time. We've mentioned the improvements seen with new roles for Hinds and Soares. I also like Niko taking the corner kicks as well. Now it's time to see if the Zips 2016 2.0 version can take the success to a place that hasn't been too kind to the Zips 2016 1.0 version - the road.2 points

Will WMU most likely lose if they play a top team? Yes. Is it guaranteed? No. There is a reason that teams plays the game.1 point

They are cousins, he is a little taller, not as thick, faster & a better all around athlete IMO1 point

Apparently have talked withOmar Fattah, LB from St Eds. http://www.hudl.com/profile/5319120/omar-fattah http://www.cleveland.com/hssports/blog/index.ssf/2016/11/meet_a_breakout_player_from_ea.html#1 Lucas D'Orazio, who I am assuming is Zach's little brother seems to be doing good at Cuyahoga Heights. Maybe a late bloomer. I think I'd give a preferred walk on if his junior tape looks better. His sophomore tape doesnt look like a D1 athlete IMO. http://www.cleveland.com/hssports/blog/index.ssf/2016/11/meet_a_breakout_player_from_ea.html#12 http://www.hudl.com/profile/7325863/lucas-dorazio1 point

Preferably I like Ivey at the 3 as he looks like our best option so far. I wasn't understanding what you were getting at that somehow getting taller at the 3 would help Big Dog on the offensive end because bringing in someone that is taller but less talented doesn't make us better. I don't understand why you want to pull Ivey when he is excelling at the 3 spot and move him further away from the basket so that he would have to create more of his own shots and won't be in a position to get as many boards. The teams real issue is that Noah and Antino have played below what they are capable of. I'd like to see Josh get more minutes at the 2 instead of the 3 and would like to see Antino get more minutes running the point coming in to spell Robotham. We have more depth at guard than we do at SF so I don't see why we would want to move our best SF to SG. There are only 80 minutes of guard play to go around per game. If Antino, Noah, and Josh split them equally, that is 26.66 minutes per game for each of them. Who are you going to bench to clear minutes for Ivey to play guard? I will concede it would be nice to get someone else to emerge that could provide ~10 minutes per game to backup Ivey at the 3 so Williams could solely be a 2 guard.1 point

How exactly is getting taller going to eliminate the offensive burden on Big Dog when the guys that are taller than Ivey that could play the 3 haven't shown the ability to hit shots? If anything staying small and keeping Williams at the 3 will force teams to respect the outside shooter and not cheat to double Big Dog. I think you are looking at the heights too much and not looking at how big someone plays. Reggie at 6'7 last year averaged 4 rebounds per game and had only 1 game last year of 9 or more boards. 81% of his shot attempts came from 3 and he rarely got offense in the paint. Ivey plays much bigger by attacking the basket for rebounds and gets to the rim on offense. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in athleticism.1 point

Ivey might be listed as a guard, but he has SF written all over him. He is a rounded player with length who attacks the rim and gets to the charity stripe. He said in the post game interview that he actually played the 4 in high school and he does have some post moves we haven't seen yet. Game 1: 14 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal Game 2: 12 points, 11 board, 1 assist We have a SF averaging 10 rebounds for us. I want to keep him in a position to create these extra possessions for us.1 point

If you are starting Ivey at the 2 and having Williams and Antino coming off the bench, who are you starting at the 3? Personally this is how I'd like to see it shake out. Start Noah at the 1, Williams at the 2, Ivey at the 3, Kwan at the 4, and Big Dog at the 5. Use Antino as a combo guard off the bench so he would backup both Williams and Noah.1 point

I don't especially like the new uni's. First, we are blue and gold not white and grayish-blue. Second the university seal on the shorts cannot be recognized because it is too small. It looks like a blotch on the side. I would rather have had our Z in it's place. Can we please get back to a gold uni. I do like the Zippy head on the other side of the shorts. That's cool. It's unique. It's us.1 point

Ivey's looking good. Sigh of relief- this team needs his athleticism. Badly.1 point

That's a big reason why I was telling you I didn't like white numbers on white jerseys a week or 2 back. IK they would be hard to read.1 point

I feel like the football team's uniforms get better every season, and the basketball team's get worse. Our school colors are blue and gold. Not blue, silver and black. Why does the kangaroo head just randomly get cut off below the eyes? The University seal is ugly.1 point

I don't like that they are not blue and gold... again. I do like that they say Akron... and not "Z" The lack of any consistency in brand building by the athletic dept is confusing1 point

Good calls both. Your second example went to OT. Mikey Nanchoff settled things with a free kick score. Oddly enough, sat next to George for that one too.1 point

http://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/if-usmnt-fires-jurgen-klinsmann-here-are-the-top-candidates-to-replace-him/ ... 2. Caleb Porter ... Porter motivates his players and relates to them well, and he knows how to make proper changes mid-game to boost his team, especially in the attack. He guided the University of Akron to the national championship in 2010 and then took the Portland Timbers to the top of MLS in 2015. He's still coaching Portland and knows the game and the MLS-based players very well. He would be a darkhorse but he would be my pick. ... Mine, too.1 point
