  1. What a great interview. Good questions, and good answers by DeAndre. Only question I would like to know the answer to is, would you have liked to shadow Corey Davis this year, and has your scheme ever included shadowing (I think no, but would like to hear his comments)? Corey lined up all over, as opposed to Boyd (strictly at the Z) as DeAndre refers to. My favorite answer (of many): DeAndre Scott: My time at Akron was one to remember. Coming in, in 2012 as a mid-year freshman not knowing who my coach was gonna be at the time and not having a clue what I was in for. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. Graduated and earned my degree as well as helped build a program that wasn’t used to seeing success and being apart of a bunch of devoted guys/coaches to change the culture around the university and program it made me cherish Akron even more. It helped me grow into the person/player I am now. Definitely an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything.

  4. I will learn a lot tonight. I want to see if we can defend Kaminski. I want to see what Big Dog does when the defense fronts him and keeps him from getting on the low block. I want to see how Tavian matches up against OU's guards. And if he can continue getting increased minutes. Can we get some consistency out of Antino? How will the Freshman respond to getting pushed around on their home floor (OU games are always chippy), in front of a 5k crowd? Can we keep our home win streak rolling (3rd longest in the nation)?

  6. Here are Nate's senior highlights He is a talented WR and PR and good on defense too. Maybe he will eventually be Jojo's replacement.

  7. Well, it's always just one game. One team can play well, and another team can play bad, and you really don't learn anything. Take last night as an example. If you're a big Cavs fan, you probably thought you learned something a few weeks ago with a major comeback at home against the Warriors. Maybe you were thinking "we can play with them, even with Durant" or "Maybe they really aren't the super power that everyone thinks they were". Then last night the Warriors score a mind-boggling 78 points in 24 minutes, and essentially put the game out of reach by halftime. Basketball is funny that way. Here was 2 teams playing games 3 weeks apart with dramatically different results. The true difference between them is certainly somewhere in between the two results. But where? If the Zips make a "statement win" tonight, it would be comforting to me to believe (for now) that we are better than everyone in this league. But another game down the line can always make you feel differently. It's Basketball. It's truly just one game.

  9. Dean Spanos is arguably the worst owner. Nobody in LA wants the Chargers. They belong in San Diego.

  13. So I came across something pretty interesting that I think is worth sharing. There are generally two sides on this site when it comes to discussing recruiting. The side that thinks stars mean everything and the type that think stars don't tell the whole story/could possibly be inflated or deflated depending on who they have offers from. I like to think I'm somewhere in the middle. Stars do obviously have meaning, but there are certainly many players that get overlooked for one reason or another. With PJ Fleck hopefully gone at WMU after this season, I was curious as to what mutual players both Akron and WMU have offered in the case that some may decommit after Fleck leaves. So I pulled up WMU's commit list per 247. http://westernmichigan.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits Now Fleck is obviously heralded as some great recruiter. He's obviously a talented coach as well. I didn't look through them all, but take a look at those top 5 rated commits. All 3 stars I might add. There is a QB (who Akron has also offered) who looks a lot like you'd expect WMU to be pulling in. A handful of offers with a few decent P5s sprinkled in. However when you look at the other 4, you will see that 2 of them ONLY have an offer from WMU and 2 of them have an offer from WMU and one other G5 program. Does that not seem a little odd?? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say Akron's recruiting is on par with WMU's, but it doesn't appear as far off as I think most of us assume. Also, FWIW, Zach Terrell was a 2 star prospect with offers to WMU, Illinois State, and Kent St per Rivals. Corey Davis was a 2 star prospect whose only offer was to WMU.
