Great game by the Zips tonight. Nice to see"Zips Basketball" again, after a couple duds. You are what your record says you are. And that's 21-4!

I noticed Kwan getting his rhythm back seemed to directly impact Noah's confidence as well. I wish it had the same effect on Josh.

Utomi is going to be a best. He can SHOOT, and he is both athletic and aggressive. On the post game, KD said he expects him to be the leading scorer next year. TDM is showing he is a rookie. Good player, but maybe not quite ready for crunch time, makes some bad mistakes, time will tell.

Assuming Central lays smackdown on Miami today, looks like the top 3 seeds are crystallizing and hopefully an epic brutal semi final ensues between Bulls and Chipps in Cleveland.

Apparently, Lee was suspended for a violation of team rules at some point.

Probably half my comments are about the poor coverage. Makes no sense. You have a local team, at high level, doing well. What more could the paper want. Did I say it makes no sense.

Maybe only because I'd asked a question in the Zips quiz about who would hit the first two three pointers In the game so I really had to pay attention.

When just about any D-1 team that shoots a lot of 3-balls hits 52% they are probably going to win easily. But something else really got my attention last night. It's the 22 Assists vs. 9 Turnovers. We really played team basketball last night, and only went through a rough patch when we surrendered that double digit lead right before halftime. I got the feeling last night that once Kwan started shooting well, everyone stated hitting. I actually can't believe that I am implying that when Kwan starts hitting long balls, he gives everyone else more confidence that they can do the same. And I still can't believe that he has the green light from 30' out. But what can a coach do when they go in?

Nice road win .... I was able to catch a good part of the 2nd half. Keep it going.

The love fest for TDM is way premature. Outside of his bank 3, and knocking a ball off Toney, he was horrible. He's just too small, can't penetrate and frankly isn't a D1 player right now. Maybe, he can be a solid rotational player down the road, but for some of the hate Robotham gets, he is easily twice the player at this point. Utomi, on the other hand, is legit. His game is gradually improving in front of our eyes. He still was on fire from three, but his willingness to put the ball on the floor when pushed off the line, and even posting up a bit, is what I think is the turning point for him. He's got way too good of a basketball body and skills to simply be a spot up shooter. While he's played that shooting role better than anybody could've expected, I love that he's beginning to expand his game while still playing the role he is most needed to perfection. Also, thought Ivey played a very nice game. He's starting to really knock down the corner threes, and he continues, by far, to be the team's best perimeter defender. He did a great job tonight, IMO, of getting those hockey assists. EMU left him alone in the corner in the zone all night and not only did he knock down a couple 3s from down there, he also made quite a few "simple" plays that set up an open look. Like Utomi, his game continues to grow. Overall, a very disciplined offense game all around (outside the press at the end ... which I was yelling, "Just get the ball in Antino's hands").

When Utomi goes 5-5 from three and gives us 19 points, this team is pretty hard to beat.

Idk if I've ever seen KD be as patient with a player as he is with Josh. I think it's to the detriment of the team.

Kwan needs to get his stroke back. This team is as mediocre as the rest of the MAC when he's slumping ... and he's in a major slump right now.

I was referring to a leader that people want to follow and one that can get fellow students hyped.

VCU plays in a vastly more high profile conference, has made the NCAA tournament 9x in the past 13 years, and has made a Final 4 appearance. Akron meanwhile is waiting for their 1st NCAAT win. Once Akron basketball reaches the level of VCU basketball we'll have a vibrant student section too.

I can't wait to see him run this year. Glad to hear the NCAA got it right.

You mean the TV deal that the MAC negotiated with ESPN? I'd definitely say the MAC has some say, but they choose to not negotiate any stipulations or restrictions. You'd certainly know more than I if Dambrot and the players prefer to play on a Friday in front of a national TV audience or on a Saturday in a more filled JAR. As a fan I don't like it and clearly I'm not the only one.
