  1. Here are his 2014-15 Game Log stats. He had multiple double-digit performances against bigger schools. Who knows what the reason was for the statistical decline the following season, but the kid can play. Oregon St. might be a lower program performance wise, but they play MUCH better competition and have actually won some big games. As far as the writer's claim that he has MAC First Team potential, this kid is a physical 6'2" guard coming from a major conference. We're talking about the MAC here, which just had a mass exodus of talent, and is already a middle-of-the-road mid-major conference at best. Who knows what he's been doing since the 2014-15 season, but to predict he's a potential First Team MAC player isn't far-fetched.

  2. Graphic in original post is updated per the recent changes. Some are not official, but it seems to be complete. I'll revise if the GoZips releases don't match up. Go Zips!

  3. Marcus no longer has an OSU picture (but still an Akron picture) on his twitter profile, for those inquiring minds.

  4. It's great that Robbie and Kofi were both able to finish their degrees at Akron after leaving for the pro ranks. I knew Robbie came back to do so, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Kofi's name there too. Congrats to all 4 graduates. Happy to be able to call all them Fellow UA alumni! Best wishes to all, and best wishes to Tyler Sanda in Medical School!

  5. Duvivier will play this year, he is a graduate transfer. Hester, Jackson, and Riak next year. Source: Building the Dam Duvivier can be described as a strong and bruising guard, who is also a severely underrated athlete and is developing into a solid all-around player. He’s known for having a strong court-presence and often times throughout his career, was tasked with defending the other’s team top-offensive weapon. At Akron, he’ll have the chance to showcase his abilities for first-year head coach John Groce, who takes over the team after a five-year stint at the University of Illinois....While Groce has done a fine job in securing notable transfers to the school, specifically Eric Hester (Florida), Loren Jackson (Long Beach State) and Deng Riak (East Carolina), that trio of new talents won’t be eligible until the 2018-2019 season comes around. Despite a monumental task before him, Groce is hopeful to return the Zips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.

  6. I thought the goal was to immediately start getting NCAA tournament wins. If it's not, this board sure could have fooled me.

  7. Hey...I found this on hustlebelt.com: The drop of men’s soccer in particular leaves the MAC in a bad place for the near future. Men’s soccer is an optional sport for conference membership and currently only has six member institutions (Akron, BGSU, Buffalo, NIU, WMU and West Virginia), the bare minimum for an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament. Hartwick was a former member, but recently moved to the Sun Belt Confernece. Losing Buffalo means the MAC has to find at least one new member within two years. Otherwise, they lose that auto-bid, which directly impacts Akron’s soccer program, considered one of the best in the country. So we've got that going for us....
