I made a solo trip to Toledo yesterday. I miss my bud Dr. Z's pics, and layout skills. No one likely wants to read about the Zips getting their butts whipped, but I went...and here it is. Toledo.pdf4 points

I agree with recruiting process, we need to finish this year, it will help, most people on here don’t understand because we have no coverage, zero coverage There are 21 freshman with the team, 7 of them have played, Booker the most PT, Burkhart & Meeks are special teams, Sampson in rush packages, Williams, Brimage & Jacobs have all played a few plays All everyone knows is they only announced 13 because at time of signing day where non qualifiers, some got grades up last semester or raised ACT to be qualifiers & participate, a few others are working behind the scenes & will start in spring i think heading in right direction as biggest downfall was just getting other teams problems in here & being pretty good but if they don’t stay or get hurt we didn’t have any depth, the depth is better & hopefully will be better after this recruiting year & program continues in the right direction With that said I think if you want to run the spread you need bigger receivers, they must need to be able to block & run the ball. You use the whole field in a spread, get in open field, create mismatches, we are calling RPO plays with a QB that isn’t a threat & throw vertical all the time & those are low % passes, I like Woodson & think he should be QB, just using spread differently & not so much RPO as there is little QB threat on ground, get bubbles & stays in the passing game & spreads defense out & helps running game & deep threat if they got to play tight to LOS to stop stays & bubbles i am still bullish that East is in our grasp GO ZIPS4 points

We've lost to a probable playoff team in PSU, now ranked Iowa State (who has beaten Oklahoma), 5-2 probably Sun-belt champ with a W over LSU in Troy, and 6-1, probable MAC champ, whose only loss is to undefeated Miami. These are top P5 and G5 teams we've lost to. Who really cares about the score yesterday. Last year WMU beat us 41-0. Didn't mean crap this year. Things got out of hand quick and we don't exactly have a high powered offense to keep up. A few bounces our way and yesterday can look a lot different. Not a W, but a lot more respectable. Smith holds onto the ball at the 1, Woody doesn't overthrow Bickley, etc. If we lose like we did yesterday to an OU, or lose to a Miami, Buffalo with their 3rd string QB, or Kent, I can understand the bitching. IIRC, we were picked to finish 4th in the MAC East this season. Not the MAC overall. The MAC East.2 points

I agree with K92, this commitment list is a significant improvement in recruiting from prior years. Now, before someone jumps, we all know that this list will change, but I can remember prior years when Bowden was just starting here where we had 1 or 2 commitments at this time, as our program had sunk so low.2 points

Ya'll need to chill out. Was there one person on this forum from begining of season till now that expected to win this game. You old men just need to sit down. Please. Sit down.2 points

Toledo Thoughts, mostly not concerning the playing of the game. Others have covered that and I agree with most of the reports. I had a great time at this game, except for the outcome of course. The people were friendly and very helpful in guiding my party around. The tailgating was fun and easy. Their campus is very nice and seemingly more spread out than ours. I loved the old stone architecture. The crowd actually grew during the game. At KO the stands were 40-50% full. By half they were 60-70% full. I saw more gear for the home side than I have seen for any MAC site the Zips have visited. The fans are truly proud of their team and school. Their band is good. Ours is better. I'd love to have Toledo as a rival. The only problem is you have to beat your rival every now and again to fuel the rivalry. We are so similar it is scary: We both are STEM oriented We both have higher aspirations We both are in urban settings Our cities and universities are about the same size Unfortunately, their tradition, talent level, recognition and success is much higher than ours Milwee called an OK game. He's not my favorite coach but he got no execution for what he called. He did his best. Amato had no answer to Toledo's talent and efficiency. Many times he was in the wrong alignment. He really got schooled by their OC. Toledo is too good a progrum to be committing so many penalties. They rank at the top of the MAC in penalties. The coaches should not tolerate that.1 point

Yeah not sure. Looking at the MAC right now it's difficult to say, because (up until yesterday's games) everyone was still (technically) eligible. For here on out everything is STILL in Akron's court, despite ZG01 and K92 meltdowns over on the other side of the forum. Buffalo, Miami, Ohio and Kent. All four of these games are winnable.1 point

Brennan may have come in as a hot number tonight but this isn't american football, can't keep running players over...red card is deserved, and Zips had his number ALL night.1 point

If you would have told me a month ago that we would win of the two games against WMU and Toledo, I would have taken that and ran to the bank. We are not on par with Toledo, but we still have the MAC East for the taking.1 point

Isn't this the point when someone notes that Kent is leading Ohio and that we are in the driver's seat in the MAC East? And that we were supposed to lose this game and are only two wins away from a berth in the Artichoke Bowl?1 point

You typical negative nancies are such crybabies. All you do is yell and cry and provide zero substance. Quit acting surprised at the outcome thus far. The Zips are getting beat by the class of the MAC. The world is ending!!!!1 point

Don't know why, but I LOL'd at this. Any publicity is good publicity, amirite?!1 point

Should anything happen to Logan Woodside, his back up is Hudson's Mitchell Guadagni. The Zips could conceivably face two Summit County quarterbacks in successive weeks?1 point
