  1. Right. And gozips.com should point that out and not conflate the 2 different eras.

  2. He scored 48 points in a game and that is a record. PERIOD

  3. I was at that game and you are right, great shot. No hesitation, he was going to take that shot from the get go. I would have to rate them equal. McNees did it at the Q. Jimond did it in a game where he score over 40 points. It wasn't just one shot, he played the entire game in the zone.

  4. Both records should stand. The introduction of the 3-point line is such a fundamental change to the game that it's not fair to make comparisons.

  5. Seriously? Adjusting his score? Jimond set the record and that needs to be recognized as such.

  6. So what do you want, an asterisk in the record book?

  7. I was thinking of a Zip buzzer beater. I was at the Q when Penno made that shot. I try to forget about the shots that lost us games at the buzzer.

  8. The clock at least started properly for Ivey, correct?

  9. From gozips.com- Ivey's 48 points broke Akron's all-time single-game scoring record of 47 points set by Joe Jakubick on Feb. 05, 1983 against Murray State.

  10. Marquise Bridges' twitter bio still reads, "Zips football." But on January 22nd I DM'd him & said, "Hey Marquise! You're still gonna play for Akron, right? Next season? Spring ball? I can't wait to see you in the blue & gold! 100" But he has yet to reply. Naturally, I assume the worst, i.e., he's still not academically eligible. But I'm holding out hope that he just simply doesn't want to waste his time replying to some dorky white guy. Lol.

  11. Really had their chances. Can't blame it totally on the refs.

  12. I cannot believe it. What a horrible negligent call.

  13. Utomi's 3 ball doesn't seem too far off...........they just aren't falling though.

  14. The refs have been calling a lot of offensive fouls off the screen. Klac needs to stop moving when he sets a screen. Has been called for an offensive foul twice. Jimond is keeping this team in the game. Love his penetration. I think he is one of the few Zips who has not turned it over. Utomi cannot find his shot on the road again. Threw up another air ball on 3 pointer. Last year he started on the road for Kwan and could not miss. This year his shot has been way off away from the Jar. Maybe he can find it in the second half. He did have a nice drive for his only basket. Great pressure defense the first 10 minutes. I thought they slacked a little on d in the latter part of the second half. Fun watching Groce play defense from the bench. One of the benefits of a young team, they listen to the coach. Klac not doing much from the center position offensively. This game is winnable. Need to close it out!!

  15. Zips playing great D and getting good looks from the 3- line. Just need them to start dropping.

  16. How on earth did this team beat Notre Dame.

  17. Back in the Spring of 2000 I participated in this! I didn't land Zippy, but I did get a call and became a professional Akron mascot....and I got to participate in the Olympic torch relay when it came through Akron on its way to Salt Lake City! What a life achievement!
