  1. You could watch Jordan get better as the game went on. It was fun to watch. His high school film impressed me. He's gonna be a good one.

  2. Our old friend Kreed is right on point. The polling showed the citizens of Summit County didn't want to pay for a new arena and the issue died. I was really looking forward to the Ice Capades, Harlem Globetrotters, a circus that exploited animals, and monster trucks. The JAR is a dump but it's our dump. Sure I'd love another arena and wish some of the money put into the nearly always empty and decaying football behemoth had gone towards an arena or reworking the JAR, but those are worthless wishes. I think the JAR could be revamped into a more workable arena that would promote a better fan experience but that also requires money the university doesn't have.

  3. We are without our starting QB and RB. That is why the line has moved.

  4. Riak isn't going to suddenly become an offensive force in his 4th season of college hoops. Sayles showed some promise as a freshman but went backwards after his initial injury. At the end of the day, the Zips have to rely on their defense, rebounds and put backs and find the offense somewhere else. I think X will be a player. I see Cheese with a year under him being even better. Banks should find his shot at some point. I sense LCJ is always going to be one of those up and down mercurial players. Reece and Roscoe should help from the bench. They may again be hurting for a backup point guard, forcing Cheese to move over at points LCJ is out. I think they'll be better this year and continue their growth and this looks to be a year of parity in the MAC.

  5. How long until opponents' buy scores of #2 pencils and break them in half after beating us or creating a turnover of their own? P.S. Any opponent reading this, be warned that I have submitted a U.S. patent request on this idea, and am hoping for the opposite outcome of OSUcks' "THE" patent request and LeBum's "Taco Tuesday" patent request.

  8. DAMN!!! Over two-and-a-half years since anybody cared enough to post on this subject! Well...here we go... Even in the 50th State it's possible to hear scuttlebutt about the Polytechnic College of Summit County, and hear stories about the history of alma mater! This summer I was privileged to spend time at the National Conference of Mayors conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, and had an opportunity to meet and greet several current and former Akron political bigwigs -- including a recent former mayor and former President of the National Conference of Mayors. So...having him available to speak both "off-the-record" AND off-the-cuff" -- and before the booze started flowing LOL (I was informed that said mayor was capable of drinking any other city official "under the table"!), I dropped the question: "Whatever happened to that new downtown arena I heard so much about"? Whoa!! It took a fairly lengthy pause, an increase in blood pressure, and it almost seemed a skipped heartbeat before our ex-chief executive could spit out his heartfelt response...clearly I had hit upon a subject connected to his gut! "You know", he forcefully answered, including some quick statistics..."whenever the university comes to the city with a request, 17 out of 20 times, the city is happy to work with the university! But more and more, the presidents have wanted to take, take, take and give nothing in return -- going all the way back to President Guzzetta there was a good relationship between the university and the city, but sheesh this last guy...!" (his veins starting to pump more blood more rapidly). "All he ever wanted was to take, and never gave the city a damn thing!!" So, my takeaway was, the university was expecting the city to foot the major share of the cost for an arena facility, and the city was unwilling -- not to mention unable to financially pull the rabbit that President Proenza was looking to be pulled out of its pocket. But overall it was a merry three days of meetings and partying for the nations' municipal leadership along the white sands of Honolulu's tourist district. And Z.I.P consumed mass quantities of libations -- courtesy of the mayors and sponsors!

  9. I think Reece will play bigger than he is. He's not tall, but he appears to be a tank.

  10. I think it's a good thing they didn't. There offense would have likely penetrated deep into our territory again and again. Things could have really gotten messy.

  11. KG14, thanks for visiting. We aren't all grumpy old men! This contest should tell us much about both our teams. Let's wish for no injuries for both of our teams.

  12. Thought that was assume I was a CMU fan. Our QB and RB got hurt in the thrashing against Wisconsin. They were just announced yesterday to be out.

  13. I agree with ZippyRulz on Burkhart, and think that Boogie may get the most yards maybe not the most targets. And I had the 100 to 130 yard range for rushing but think that Kato will get more than 50% of it. All that said I predict a 2 point win, believe it or not.

  14. I actually meant to click 71-100 for rushing. That's what I get for trying to vote before my morning coffee ?‍♂️

  15. How does LePear Toles look? If healthy or should I say, "IF healthy" he could be a contributor. Doesn't seem that expectations are above the floor. He showed a lot of promise at the high school level.

  18. Well, at least we have Silver Creek Metro Park, even if we don't have a track to run on. Our track and cross-country coaches were instrumental in design and installation of a fantastic cross-country course at Silver Creek Park in Norton, to be used by college and high school teams throughout the season. And this year our XC team won the Tommy Evans Invitational out there, and out two besties, Mackenzie Andrews - All-American, and Andre Bollam-Godbott took firsts, and Andre even "mixed it up" a little at the finish line with the defending champ of the MAC from Ohio! Maybe no fireworks at the football game, but out in Norton...close!

  19. The Takeaway Pencil is silly as hell. But I'm going to embrace it. An explanation would be nice.
