Of course the Forum guests who have been screaming about how bad the football team/program is making the U look won't give a hoot, because, you know, they're not MAJOR sports, Olympic sports, no one cares, blah blah blah....but if you didn't already know the outcome of the football game before you even watched or attended, then you had your head someplace else. But you should have paid attention, or at least given a nod here and there, to the Women of The Zips (I mean, Zippy is a she afterall). The biggest surprise of the Fall has to be the Volleyball team. They've won their last 3 matches, are 14-5 overall and in first place in the MAC at 7-1. This weekend they clobbered NIU 3-0 Friday and won a thriller 3-2 (7-6 final set) over WMU Saturday. Then the slowly but steadily women's soccer team, had WMU on the ropes Friday night leading 1-0 but gave up 2 late goals, almost saving a draw with great attacks in the final 5 minutes. They then bounced back yesterday to trounce NIU 3-0 at First Energy Stadium, with Carly Pcholinsky getting a brace, her second so good you'd of thought you were watching the MSOC team of 2018. It may not seem like a lot if you haven't watched them the past few seasons, but at 3-4-1 in the MAC and 7-8-1 overall it's a continuing improvement and making the Zips dangerous in WSOC. The least surprising of the weekend wins by Women was the Swim team dominating the pool in the 2nd annual Akron Zips Classic with Cleveland State, Xavier, Miami, and NCAA D2 Champs Dennison. After 7 of last year's Zips left and Maddi Myers still injured, Coach Peresie just keeps reloading, adding some quality freshmen to the mix, and it sure looks like a train wreck is all that will prevent a 7th straight MAC title. Did I mention that WSOC and WS&D are now attracting International players and interest? Oh, that's right, U of A is the "laughing stock" of College Athletics..... Stop grieving over an already lost football season and a wounded MSOC team that still has life in them, and maybe show some pride of the "lesser" sports.3 points

SIU-E is coached by Cale Wasserman This is his first year he had been the assistant at Michigan State for 4 years before their coach has an impressive coaching background. I was lucky (???) enough to be sitting behind the bench and heard Arth's motivational yelling. He kept saying "The excuses need to stop right here. We can not keep making the same mistakes over and over again." Stop making excuses for yourselves and stick to your game plan!" I for one love to see his passion and am still fully behind him. I don't think he is in over his head, but some of the play calls I do not understand, especially the fist offensive series..... Also, has Gibson never faced pressure before? Tuck the ball man!!! I understand he didn't have time to thorw it away most of the time, but yikes 4 fumbles?2 points

Absolutely proud of the way this team responded after the early faux pas and after they went down a man. I told them so when they came off the field! I'm happy they have 4 days before SIUE at home Friday night. Carlo told me he should be ready Friday.2 points

A full recruiting season would be a hell of a start. If we want to criticize the AD, we should be critical of him taking so damn long to make a hire. I guess part of the reason was that lovely South Carolina makeup, but the new staff was left with nothing for recruiting.2 points

Oh, so now you expect us to rely on the accounts of people who were actually there as opposed to someone seeing a photo or a brief TV clip? That's preposterous!1 point

You do an excellent job of capturing not only the play on the field, but also the gameday experience as a whole. Thanks Dr Z!1 point

way too early to be worrying about that.... Southern Illinois Edwardsville(SIU-E) is the league leader at 2-0-0 and they come to Akron Friday night Akron will have to play that game without Marco Milanese Carlo Ritaccio was not able to play today...not sure of his status for Friday SIU-E is a very good team. Jared is a great coach....and will have this team focused on one game at a time I am proud of this team. They had to play without a pre season all american at center back. They got kicked in the teeth at 44 seconds.... and battled back to tie it at half time they played 33 minutes a man down....against a team ranked #27 in RPI (and WMU had won at Michigan on Thursday night) these zips are fighting and battling proud of them1 point

Why? Over & over again, i am so thankful for Bowden getting us out of the basement but he hit cruise control & we are here because of him. We are playing with Bowden recruits & Recruits we got after signing day. This sucks because are senior coaching staff didn’t want to hit the recruiting trail anymore If you look back I wanted a new OC but once the decision was made I wanted Getsy. For being an x QB here, being in NFL around Rogers & an OC in SEC but would have cost some money. With that being said we gotta give him a chance to recruit as we can see he wasn’t left much & playing true freshman is never a good thing1 point

I have a hoodie with this on the front: "We aren't Cyclone fans because it's easy. We're Cyclone fans because its awesome." We could teach you quite a bit about how to maintain an active board even when your team sucks. For instance, we have not won a conference (or even division) title in 100 years! However, we took great pride a few years ago in the empirical proof that we are the most loyal fans in college football. They took total attendance divided by wins over a three year period. We were #1! That sort of loyalty helps make the current success even more enjoyable. [Waits for "there is nothing else to do in Iowa" jokes. iIs true, but not relevant. ]1 point

They issued a statement and said both cars will be on track. This was for their 2nd car that they have run part time this year. The actually just announced they are fielding 2 full time cars next year with Ross Chastian. Ross is one of the hottest up and coming drivers. This is a pretty big get for Kaulig Racing. Ross has all the talent in the world and is supper aggressive. He is the kind of guy you love when he is on your team or hate him if he is not.1 point
