could be a season changing 10 minutes.... this should really give the team a great deal of belief in each other....on what they can accomplish under severe adversity.3 points

Chattanooga Mocs fan here. Reading this thread reminds me of our conversations on our message board the past two years. Arth's teams struggled to run the football, had terrible play on the offensive line, and an overall terrible offense. When Arth was hired in Chattanooga we had just come off of three top 10 seasons (and the one before in the top 25) Arth's hire certainly came out of left field for us, as he was a D3 head coach and some of the finalists were seemingly much more qualified, or at least experienced at the D1 FCS Level - One had built a meddling Big South team into a perennial top 25 program and his wife was from the Chattanooga area so they had ties here. All I can say is Arth must give one heck of an interview. While Arth was not an expected hire, or the one most Moc fans would have picked, I got behind his hire noting his record at John Carroll and that the X's and O's would largely be the same. My concerns were if he could recruit well and how he would adjust to the D1 game. We started the 2017 ranked in top 15 and things tanked from there giving us our worst season since 2009 finishing 3-8. We did finish the season strong beating #9 Samford, then losing to #8 Wofford in double OT, and finishing up the season with a win over in state rival ETSU. Success continued in early 2018 starting off 4-0 before collapsing and finishing 6-5. Poor clock management by the staff lost some of those games. Arth's tenure was plagued by a complete lack of a running game, terrible offensive line play, and an overall inept offense. Defense, which was a Chattanooga trademark under previous HC Russ Huessman, remained very good under Arth, particularly with the inability of our offense to sustain drives and give the defense a rest. One thing Chattanooga fans never could quite understand is that we had been running a spread run/pass option offense and a solid 4-3 defense and Arth changed us to a pro style offense and a 3-4 defense. You wouldn't think you would change things up that much taking over an already successful team. Arth did seem to recruit fairly well so there may be hope for the Zips, the biggest problem is that his most prized recruits never saw the field and most are no longer with the program. Arth did fire his OC and Offensive Line coach after the 2018 season so the OC you have there is not the same one we had in Chattanooga, but it looks like you're seeing the same results. I hope Arth is successful as he seems like a nice guy. We didn't have the cash to buy him out and were shocked that someone hired him away. We had been hoping that an NFL team would hire him away for something as he seems to have connections there. Good luck Zips fans, Chattanooga fans feel your pain.2 points

Here you go: TIE-BREAKER PROCEDURE Ties in winning percentage, and thus for tournament, seeding positions shall be broken as follows: 1. Between TWO teams: A. Head-to-head competition B. Division Record* C. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played) D. Coin flip 2. For MULTIPLE (3 or more) team ties: E. Total won-lost record/winning percentage* of games played among the tied teams F. Two (2)-team tie-breaker procedure goes into effect (refer to A) [NOTE: Once a three-team tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker will go into effect.] ^ - For the purpose of determining the Division champion. This tiebreaker is ONLY used for seeding purposes if the two teams in question are tied for the Division lead. (Teams will still be considered co-divisional champions) * - Winning percentage is used instead of record because of situations where teams do not play each other the same number of times. Therefore, a team that is 1-0 (1.000) would win the tiebreaker over a team that is 1-1 (.5002 points

MAC Standings Akron, 3-0-1, 10 points, 9 GF, 4 GA: Goal Differential=5 WMU, 2-1-1, 7 points, 7 GF 5 GA: Goal Differential=2 SIUE, 2-1-1, 7 points NIU, 2-2, 6 points BGSU, 1-3, 3 points WVU, 0-0-1, 1 point Akron plays at WVU Thursday, Nov 7th at 7 pm EST SIUE plays WMU at 1 pm Saturday, Nov 9th at 1 pm EST Since SIUE & WMU play head to head, there cannot be a 3-way tie. In the case of a tie with SIUE, Akron wins the MAC regular season on head to head In the case of a tie with WMU, Akron & WMU tied 1-1 head to head; I think the next tiebreaker is goal differential which we currently lead. I can't find the tiebreaking procedures to verify, though.2 points

I thought that much of Zips Nation was overly optimistic in the preseason with their estimates of wins. My thought was that they could win as few as two and as many as four. Even my pessimism could not match this ugliness. They're not firing Arth. As such, the keys in the off-season need to be: 1) work their @$$e$ off in recruiting, including jucos; 2) upgrade the staff. All of these connections Arth purportedly has better pay off in the off-season. They need kids that can play NOW.2 points

https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/stats/2019/northern-illinois/boxscore/6096 if you click on play by play....for the 2nd half...it shows Pacheco coming in at 68:03 ...for Sammy Diogo recorded a shot at 68:29 other late game....change....Federico Serra came in at 74:45....for Colin Biros1 point

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you exactly when Diogo Pacheco entered the contest late in the second half. But I can tell you that the offensive tempo increased dramatically. His impact on the final result cannot be overstated.1 point

OK, so here is a plan: Call Bowden and tell him to report Monday to work out the remainder of his contract (if he refuses, stop paying). Name Arth as ASSISTANT HC. If he refuses, stop paying him. Since we are paying BOTH this year and next, we are entitled to make both of them work. Maybe Arth could learn enough to get a D2 job someplace.1 point

Sure, if those kids want to drop down to FCS or division 2. Akron has holes everywhere this year. If you aren't good enough to see the field as an upper class men this year, you're probably not good enough to see the field at any FBS school next year.1 point

When your LBs and S combine for most all the tackles you don't win. This tells me no D line.Tells me opponents are gashing you in the run game or airing it out on you. Neither is good.1 point

ABJ/staff report: Zips remain winless after blowout loss to Falcons Bubba had 19 tackles. Alvin Davis finished w/ 15 tackles (1 for a loss) and Lako had 11 (2 for a loss). We finished with a cumulative 100 yards of total offense. ? 71 yards passing on 10 receptions (7 yards per completion) ...and 29 yards rushing on 31 attempts (<1 yard per carry average). ?? BUGS forced 4 turnovers (3 INT's & 1 fumble) ?? ...and 5 sacks. ? Our OL is... just... wow. Lord have mercy.1 point

Bottom line is the Zips need to win or draw at WVU to control their own destiny and win the MAC regular season.1 point

Ok. So 100 total yards of offense against the 2nd worst team in the MAC. 35 unanswered points. -3 in turnovers. 0.9 ypc rushing. These are not stats of guys not meant for the staff's "scheme." The MAC east isn't the SEC. This staff is in over their heads and has completely lost this team. Truly Ianello 2.0. The faintest glimmer of hope is that sites are rating Arth recruits much higher than Ianello recruits ever were. Will they stay committed and will it translate? Will the staff be here to see it translate?1 point

https://mlsmultiplex.com/2019/11/01/toronto-fc-vs-atlanta-united-3-things-learned-richie-laryea-x-factor/3/ In my preview of this match, I suggested Richie Laryea should have started on the right-wing in place of Tsubasa Endoh considering the former’s qualities on both sides of the ball. Even though Laryea did not start, he replaced Endoh at half-time, and his performance gave Greg Vanney plenty to ponder ahead of the MLS Cup. Laryea was also solid from a defensive standpoint. He always made sure to track back and provide cover on right flank during defensive transitions, defended the back-post well even though he does not usually excel in the air and put his body on the line when cutting out Ezequiel Barco’s pass to Josef Martinez in stoppage time.1 point

With all due respect...I don't think ANY Zips fan can ever be called a "Fair Weather Fan". If we're still here, and willing to post on a Zips-Fandom Forum...we're probably not fair weather fans brother! But we, as a collective, do probably need to band together a bit. The Zips fandom always seems a little divided...1 point
