  1. Even though I was pretty salty when he left and will never be a Duquesne fan, I love KD & always will. But hindsight being 20/20, are we lucky to have Groce, or what?!?! Last game -v- Kent the announcers even commented on how good & consistent our free throw shooting is. They remarked that both LCJ & Freeman have the same routine at the line so it's likely a team system/coaching. The comment instantly took me back to some not-so-great memories of KD Zips teams. Plus, for the life of me I'll never understand KD's rotations, short leashes, and always taking the hot shooter out of the game. To this day it absolutely blows my mind. Not to mention I find our current style of play much more entertaining to watch. In Groce I trust. We're so lucky to have him! Go Zips!

  2. Big Dog was 6-16 on FT's. I think he missed his last 6 or 8? It was criminal that we lost that game. Should have beat OSU by 15.

  3. I was disappointed to see Dambrot go. I thought he got a little too much criticism despite consistently putting a top 3-4 MAC team on the court year in and year out. Fortunately for us we made a great hire and outside of 1 rebuilding year we haven't missed a beat so far. My feelings towards him might have turned bitter had we hired a dud, but as of now I wish him the best. I don't think KD style of basketball is bad as there is more than 1 way to win a basketball game. I just find Groce guard style of play more entertaining to watch. I also think it's a better system come MAC tournament time. Having a 300lb big that you run the offense through works great when you play twice a week. It becomes hard when you're playing your 3rd game in 4 days.

  4. I'd like to add a few thoughts on this topic. Many years ago I played for UA (Not football). During that time I was not a "Starter" but I certainly thought I was better than the person playing in front of me. There were many times when I thought about my options because I wanted more exposure from pro scouts. See that's what many posters don't realize is that most of these kids still think they have a shot to make it in the pros. It might be a .00000001% chance of that happening but to them it's greater than that. If you're not on the field, court, diamond, erc this will never happen. This is part of what separates them as division 1 athlete's in the first place. Their desire to be great. Student athlete's have a couple of options if they are unhappy with their situation. 1. They can stick it out and hope to develop and earn more playing time. Sometimes this works but often it does not. I won't lay out the reasons here. 2. They can walk away. Happens all the time. 3. They can find a school that values them for the skill set they have. A majority of today's student athlete's want positive and instant feedback so I cannot blame them for wanting to transfer. They are not loser's and in most cases not cancer's. They just want a shot and they want it now. The NCAA makes it pretty easy for them to do this now. You see this at every level at every school. It is the new normal so get used to it Zip fans. Sorry for the ramble but thought a different perspective was needed. Go Zips

  5. The free throw shooting was often atrocious, but now whenever I think back to it, the Ohio State NIT game in 2016 comes to mind. I just looked up the box score and threw up in my mouth. Akron 3pt: 9-42 (including 3-14 in Reggie's last game) Akron FT: 8-20 AND THE F****** GAME WENT TO OVERTIME!!!!!! ? https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/matchup?gameId=400871464

  6. Our sub-par free throw shooting drove me crazy all of those years with KD. It was so frustrating!

  9. It's true. I believe it was you who were talking him up after someone posted a video of him tearing up the Akron/Canton Pro-Am League but we were warning you that in the Pro-Am League defense is... optional. Lol. We were warning you to curb your enthusiasm ??

  10. I don't recall him cussing out the coach. I thought he got a cheap personal foul on the field (maybe threw a punch and got kicked out), and Arth got in his face about it, which is deserving. I'm not going to call him a cancer as I don't know and his attitude didn't seem out of the ordinary from what I could see. Some probably know more than I do, I'm my opinion is from the outside looking in. I also believe he initially came back here due to illness to a close family member. Reality is, he wasn't able to get on the field much here and has not thrown any low blows in his departure (unlike Akron's own Jonah Morris). Best of luck to him.

  11. More support to lose this bum. Akron cannot have a culture in which the players yell at and challenge the coaching staff. Also, if they are swearing at them, then Arth needs to step up and suspend or cut these players.
