  1. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think the cursive "Akron" is the worst. Not sure why it's basically being used as a primary logo now across all sports. It's boring and generic. Especially when we already have two very cool unique logos that are almost never used anymore.

  3. Chris played the Tribe strong, after giving up a homer to Bradley Zimmer on the first pitch. He went 7 innings striking out 8 and giving up two more earned runs on 6 hits. Of course with the A's batting prowess, that resulted in a loss. I shot a couple graphics that were shown in the game.... What that kid could accomplish on a team that can hit itself out of a wet paper bag...

  4. Glad there's another graphic designer on here! I'm not surprised that our minds think the same way. The Akron cursive script is literally a generic wordmark pulled from the Nike uniform catalog. The basketball team started using it and everyone else followed. It's disappointing. Not only have they ditched a great logoset, but the custom Akron font isn't even used on the new jerseys. Just a generic block font. Someone in the marketing department needs to get the school's branding back on track.

  5. I think they are a waste of money. At the Boise Famous Potato Bowl Trevor Maddox called our white uni's the best in college football. I agree. if it ain't broke , don't fix it. Spend the money on promotions instead. BTW, the Fear the Roc logo is too small to see from the stands or on TV so why have it. A waste of $ when we are short on it.

  6. So this year our colors are dark dark blue and white? But the schedule has dark blue and old gold. It's like a perpetual identity crisis.

  10. I found the following par of the article a little odd- As for replacing Jackson, it comes down to Garvin Clarke, Bryan Tribble and freshman Nate Johnson. “Those three, plus Xavier Castaneda,” Groce said, “so we’re still a work in progress.” Strange that GT wouldn't just write all 4 of them into the sentence. I am 100% excited about the Zips upcoming seasons in football and basketball. 90% excited about hoops and 10% about football.
