Thanks everyone. We went, enjoyed the game (kinda...) and made memories with the kids. In the end its all good. Definitely still learning the game, but we will be back! I was super impressed with the guy at the ticket window giving my kids free tickets! Go Zips!4 points

Nittany Lions won 2-1 at UMich today. This will NOT be an easy one. Seems like a veteran roster to me. The GA State result should not surprise. We still have a lot of work to do in the final third and corners (as someone already cited) suck. Looking over Panthers roster showed some mean looking dudes. #10 has a busted face in his pic, LOL.2 points

You're one of our soccer "go-to's" and you just made this feel like the Football thread! 😉 You're not wrong though. Need to iron some things out or we're going to be on the outside looking in again this year and that's rough when we now EXPECT to be playing for the College Cup year in and year out.2 points

Kudos to the Georgia State coaching staff for their good management of their Thursday/Saturday game schedule on the road. I think very highly of our coaching staff, but I hope they take a good look at their management of this one. Same starters tonight as Thursday. It was obvious that a number of them tired in the first half, but as I mentioned earlier, no subs, while GA St subbed in fresh legs. It appeared to me that fatigue led to the first goal. Once we fell behind, we were on our heels to catch up. Only one sub as I recall to start the 2nd half, and boom, we're down 2 goals and now really pressed to try to catch up. Nice goal to cut the deficit in half, but the urgency to get a tying goal then led to a stupid mistake and a 1-3 deficit. Also, how have we become so unsuccessful on corner kicks?...very rarely scoring on them; at times, rushing them to the point that we completely waste the set piece opportunity with nothing even sent into the penalty area.2 points

After thoughts: if you're lacking in talent, your plays need to be more creative; if your players are young, they need some game experience where they learn, not decorating the sidelines; coaches are going to play their recruits (good or bad) because not doing so bruises their egos; once a poor coach picks his darlings, he becomes blind to the depth chart until injuries force him to look at those players he passed over; exhausted players make mistakes, rotate often so the defense isn't sure who will get the call; instill the "10 yards in 3 downs" mindset; and finally, most coaches and men don't think grandmas know anything about developing a young team! Players will strive to become the players you make them believe they can become. It's the psychology of human nature.2 points

I was told just last week most of these guys don't have potential to develop :) Like Ham said, I remember watching Gibson the past 2 years. While many wrote him off, I thought he had talent, just needed to clean things up. Against OSU and again yesterday, it looks to me like it happened. Having 2 viable QB options is a great problem to have. Kato no longer counts as one...sorry. He's the same player he's been all his career and he was the one with the hype.1 point

Ya, problem with officials is they talk about penalties to look for with certain teams prior to games. If the films show a certain lineman holding in previous games they start watching a particular player or particular players. Had a former MAC official tell me that. So, when they see Akron has committed sideline infractions in previous games they start looking for that. Problem with that is officials might not notice infractions if they would just call what they actually see during the flow of the game. Thats why the #8.1 point

VICTORY!! So proud of this team. They faced the usual adversity they are known to be up against but fought through it. They looked like the better team yesterday. It was really fun to see. Keep the momentum going into Oxford!! EDIT: In my previous post I was worried about this game. I love when I am wrong in those instances haha.1 point

Me, too! This team is loaded with individual talent. I know it's young, and I may be expecting too much, but last night was hard to take. Folks can say it was one game, but it was 1 of only 6 MAC games (17% of the MAC schedule), and it was at home. I've been to Northern Illinois; it's a tough place to play even when they are bad. N Ill beat WVU 2-0 yesterday. WMU is not an easy place to play either. BUGS looks strong this year. They will be a tough challenge, and you can bet their fans will show up in droves given their success this year, including the "2020 Season". That one may feel more like a BG home match if we don't match their turn out. There is no given that we will be one of the top 4 MAC regular season teams. Squandering a MAC home match is ugly!1 point

All love, this is my favorite team in all of sports, and the expectations have been raised for next week! No excuses, we’ve seen the potential and there’s absolutely no reason this team doesn’t compete for a win in Oxford. Go Zips!1 point

I think Kansas already has a copyright on that phrase. In fact I think you may owe them a royalty just for including the "tgoc" in your post.1 point

Hester reminds me of Bobby Henry. North-South runner that hits holes quickly. The new-look Zips OL played fine today. Pleasant surprise. Happy for all the players…first road win in 3 years! They deserve to celebrate tonight.1 point
