  1. Disappointing about the link. I’ll see what can be done about it, but that probably won’t change any time soon. They would need an editor to keep the site up and running. For now, I’m making sure all of the recruits have updated profiles and receive a rating.

  2. All of our 2023 commits now have ratings except Lester Miller and Max Tucker, but I’m working on that.

  4. It is great to see the zips sign another player from FC Cincinnati. Akron has always done well with players from the Columbus Crew Academy. I look forward to seeing Ashton Kamdem (FC Cincinnati) play for the zips in fall 2022. And now, I can look forward to Matt Dreas (FC Cincinnati) joining the zips in fall 2023. It is good to have 2 MLS teams in Ohio...and it is great to see the zips coaching staff signing good talent from both MLS academies.

  5. Can’t tell much by any of these clips, but #4 freshman WR Bobby Golden looks explosive without pads.

  7. Perfect. Sounds great to me. I am on board with this as long as it's done right, and Guthrie has done nothing to make me believe he wouldn't do it right. In the age of cookie-cutter, modern arenas, we should be looking to standout with an awesome college basketball atmosphere. Out of curiosity, has anyone with insider info seen any renovation numbers that show the absolute maximum capacity for the JAR with a renovation? i.e. If they connect the levels, could we get 6-7k? Is 5,500 the absolute max with more seating space, but less seats due to no more bleachers?

  8. I think the football staff is doing a tremendous job recruiting and landing some players that could play at the Power 5 level, but will be difference makers here. Not necessarily starters at the Power 5 level, but could make the depth chart and contribute. In essence I think we have a staff that is recruiting like a Power 5 staff at Akron. The biggest difference I see in recruiting as a whole is along the offensive and defensive lines (and to some extent linebacker and safety). It may take a year or two for the freshmen to develop on the OL and DL, but the talent has most certainly increased. The physicality our incoming recruits play with is eye opening and something we see on a weekly basis at Power 5 levels. Im doing my best to get the national guys at Rivals to rate our recruits, but they are busy and there is still the mindset that Akron isn’t a good program. I suspect I’ll have their ear a little more after this season and we’ll likely see a few more 3 star recruits in next year’s class, even if they aren’t any better than some of the recruits in this year’s class. It’s an exciting time for Akron football and I’m looking forward to experiencing it with everyone here.

  9. this was from the Medina paper before Jackson Herbert's junior year (fall 2021) I like his speed in the 40 https://medina-gazette.com/news/271612/boys-high-school-soccer-opposing-teams-always-have-to-account-for-wadsworths-jackson-herbert/

  10. https://news.yahoo.com/wadsworth-senior-jackson-herbert-commits-171530611.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall ...“It’s unreal that it’s happening to me now. I’d say they definitely had an edge. If they were going to offer me, I was going to take it on the spot.” When Akron coach Jared Embick called the outside midfielder into his office to do just that, he really didn’t have to sell the Zips to Herbert. ... ...“It was something I couldn’t turn down,” Herbert said. “I’m really excited about it. You walk in his office and look around and there are national championship trophies, MLS trophies from the players he’s coached. Looking at the desk, you’ve got all these championship rings. It was shocking to say the least. It was unreal.” ...

  11. Blue and Gold, really good find.... Thank you for sharing... The beacon had a subscriber only article this morning...where they listed the 16 boys soccer players to watch this fall. This is what they said about Jackson Herbert : Jackson Herbert, Wadsworth, midfielder, sr. There may not be a faster player in space than Herbert, who was a Division I second-team All-Ohio selection. The Akron commit led the Grizzlies in scoring with 15 goals and nine assists. He has 38 career goals and 16 assists.
