  1. I doubt Freeman would have developed into the player he is today on the courts by the dining hall.

  2. The way things shook out last year it felt like we had to run the toughest possible gauntlet. This year the MAC is deeper with parity so I don't think it really matters where we end up; it's going to be a tough 3 rounds any way the cards fall.

  3. This team is not getting the coaching that it needs. That applies to the entire staff. The players are there to be capable of better performances. Change is most certainly coming.

  4. I think the times are a little different too. There's not nearly the emphasis on having a big man (6'9" and up) that there was 10 years ago. Coaches want mobile kids that can get up and down the floor now. Also, KD was here for 13 years and really had only 2 premier big men (Zeke and Big Dog). All others were undersized guys that played bigger (e.g. Travis, Treadwell, Wood...).

  5. I agree that Groce gets credit for developing Freeman. I still remember his first game. Skinny kid with skinny legs that I thought was just a walk on who would never see any time. However, my original post was that Groce was great at recruiting guards and KD was great at recruiting big men. Groce has yet to bring in a big guy that made a big difference although he has a short time frame compared to KD.

  6. Dang! EMU w/ #4 QB & #1 RB. The emu's beat out Deion Sanders & the Colorado Buffaloes for his services. They're seriously building quite the program up there. Buffalo stacking RB's like pancakes 🤯 And WMU landed a 6-0, 220 RB offered by Tennessee & Iowa 🧐

  7. Getting Balls in the semis would be my ideal spot

  8. Agree, CMU really lucked out as Jefferson is probably the most physically gifted out of the bunch. I’d be happy with commitments from any of the top 4. I think Steele and Jefferson have the most potential. In his film, Steele was often creating plays due to the pocket breaking down. Seems to me he could thrive in the right system and do plenty of damage with his legs and arm. Winters is the most polished and throws a beautiful ball. He is also a surprisingly good runner. JUCO QBs usually aren’t as highly recruited as HS QBs, but Udengwu definitely seems to be a good one from his film. He has 3 years to play 2 so he doesn’t have quite as long to contribute as the HS prospects. An argument could be made for any type of reordering amongst the top 4. Maybe I’m a little biased, but I think Steele has the best chance at being the most successful due to the scheme he’ll be playing in and who will be coaching him.

  9. Agreed that Coach Groce doesn't get credit for Freeman. Has anyone ever been so lucky? Serious question without an ounce of hyperbole. Groce gets the guards. We've gotten spoiled with LCJ, Cheese, Banks, and now X. Simply top-shelf guard play. (Though, of course, I wish X had more help at the guard position this year. Losing Dawson was huge & I LOVE Greg Tribble but his complete lack of the outside shot is a serious handicap.) Looking to the future, I'm extremely excited about Tavari Johnson's potential. He can get into the lane at will & I think he's going to be an absolute KILLER when he's running the pick & roll... 🤞don't want to jinx him 😂

  10. CMU really landed themselves a stud! And I thought EMU's QB's tape was spectacular. Can you tell why you rank Steele as #1 (especially over Ike Udengwu - I would have probably picked Ike as #1.)

  11. Top 5 HS/JUCO Quarterbacks (in my opinion): 1) AKRON - Steele Wasel HUDL FILM 2) CENTRAL MICHIGAN - Tyler Jefferson HUDL FILM 3) OHIO - Jacob Winters HUDL FILM 4) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Ike Udengwu HUDL FILM 5) TOLEDO - RJ Johnson HUDL FILM

  12. Love the athletes, but so many basics seem to be missing now. Rebounds are made and the ball's brought down to be slapped or wrested out of the bounders hands. Passes telegraphed and easily picked off. Settling for three point shots right away without looking for an option. Shot clock management. But mostly strength. They are having balls taken from them with ease, where is the strength coach? But agree with above, they still keep hanging in there despite terrible numbers of turnovers. They had a chance anyway. Also, used to think Todd Starkey from KSU was the biggest crybaby coach in the MAC but Brady Sallee is far worse, and is very vulgar with his language as well...Hoping they get knocked out early in Cleveland.

  13. I've pretty much gone from the glass is half full to at best half empty now. The women have lost 5 of 6 and have yet to beat a MAC team with a winning record. Unless things turnaround quickly even getting to Cleveland will be a quick exit.

  14. Nice comeback to make it a game in the 4Q. But, Ball State had 21 points on 23 Zips turnovers. Ballgame. 😵

  15. Everyone needs to take a chill pill. All teams have a bad road conference game when the other team is hot. The Zips will be ready to go the rest of the season and in the MAC tournament.
