  1. Or, @Hilltopper sneaks his trumpet into the stadium and, just as Wiley begins his forward motion, hits a triple high C that causes the kick to careen right, landing in the bell of a band member’s sousaphone. The sousaphone player blasts it out, and it sails towards the goal where it double-doinks between the posts and drops through. Our in-stadium announcer yells “The punt is good!” Unfortunately our holder is called for unsportsmanlike conduct and the kick is nullified. A lightning strike in the distance causes a game cancellation and the Zips lose. Only in Akron…

  3. DId they include a Zips blocked field goal to end the game in their prediction?

  4. 2nd year head coach Tyson Norton has the Zips playing well early in the conference season. They’re now 9-7 overall and 4-1 in the MAC after their third consecutive sweep. They’ve won 9 consecutive sets and are back home tomorrow at 6:00p vs. CMU.

  5. At the post game press conference, and during the taping of Zips Weekly, Joe will again state "we have to find a way to get the ball to Lingard and Anderson more". Since Joe's wife is the only person who can tell him what to do I am convinced she hasn't approved more rushes for these two. I hope she gives the OK soon.

  6. Still less shocking than kicking off x 2 vs. Gardner-Webb 🤣

  7. No, my guess is that we will line up for the game winning field goal and somehow the kicker accidentally takes a knee and then we lose in OT

  8. Not exactly Jean Dixon predicting the Kennedy assassination, but I give him credit for being correct. 😀

  9. They used to do this before Covid. The band has the option to play as much as they want. As a former trumpet player, I can tell you it is impossible to play at every available opportunity in a five hour football game day. Remember it is not just what goes on in the stadium. There is also all the pregame activities on campus before they arrive at the stadium.

  11. I wouldn't care about them roaming around the stands if they just had a repertoire of songs they could play throughout the game during timeouts, like basketball pep band stuff instead of the PA noise.

  13. ...and a lot of people STILL can't understand why people in this area will drive 130 miles to see a school they never attended but have a loose connection with it's name. IT IS AN EXPERIENCE. It's a party atmosphere. There's 100,000 fans in the stadium. It's easy to get caught up because THEY USUALLY WIN. We haven't seen .500 football in HOW MANY YEARS? The picture I posted at the Spring Game is what an Akron atmosphere feels like. There was nobody else in sight (I shot from the upper deck, but still). If the Worthless Nuts had a farting contest, 20,000 people would pay to watch, and it would draw decent ratings on TV. In Akron you can fart in the stadium and nobody else would be close enough to hear. (I usually don't talk like an 8 year old but this is where we are at). Between being the football laughing stock and the mismanagement of the baseball program, it's hard to get behind the rest.

  15. How ironic that they 'honored' Jim Dennison, the coach that got screwed when they hired Faust. I think Dennison even got them into the 1-AA playoffs 1 year after they statrted to move to D-1. No, they had to have a high school dropout who couldn't even win at ole' ND. The program has never been the same.

  16. All of the feels. *Think about how not only did these four seniors adamantly want to stay, but Ali Ali wanted to come back (and for the record, I think it's great Groce welcomed him back with open arms rather than being petulant and prideful about it). It demonstrates how much Groce creates an environment that players WANT to stay in, and that's worth its weight in gold. Yes, we will still lose players, including good ones who have a place on this team, to the transfer portal. But if we are doing that at a rate that's markedly less than other schools, how valuable is that? *I'm a sucker for weird/random trivia, and "Enrique Freeman worked in HR at the Rock and Roll HOF" is a great one. *Can't find anything about his Topps deal. Where can I get some Topps Freeman cards/merch? I'd rather support them than Barstool.
