This incident was blown way out of proportion. The fingers in question were not even from the Club Level. I brought them into the stadium after finding them in a big container behind the KFC. However, I did get some special recognition out of the misunderstanding; kind of an honorary tittle. From now on the stadium security guy told me, I am "persona non grata" there." Pretty cool.5 points

I was thinking more like sitting in the tailgate lot and drinking grain alcohol until I "Black Out" and not bothering going into Info.4 points

Well, the season is finally over, mercifully, and there's no reason to beat a dead horse. The women's soccer team took a few steps forward the last third of the season, only to let it all go to waste in a horrible display of soccer at OU. Maybe the losing and the end of the season finally took their toll. I wish the seniors good luck in their future, and I wish the returning players a hard-working fruitful off-season that keeps them focused on coming back stronger and more ready for the rigors of D1 soccer. And I wish Coach and her staff begin work after a few days of reflection on developing a program that is competitive, and finding the right pieces in the recruiting process to make Akron a non-bottom dweller in the MAC. We need a legitimate goal scorer, we need speed up top. We need a legitimate D1 goalkeeper. We need to hang on to the likes of Ella Hadley, Emma King, Anna Simmons (especially Anna Simmons!), and Hannah Langstaff. Can't lose any of them, In my opinion. They will be the veteran core if this team is to rise in 2024 to respectability. I'm a Zip fan, a women's sports fan, so I'll be back in the stands again in 2024, but it sure would be nice to go home after a match with a smile on my face.3 points

https://gozips.com/news/2023/10/27/mens-soccer-big-east-championship-seeding-on-the-line-as-no-10-akron-battles-butler lots of info in press release....that I normally don't see....rankings for shots per game, corner kicks per game, shots on goal per contest, etal..... FINAL SEEDING ON THE LINE FOR BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP With the final weekend of BIG EAST Conference regular season action on tap on Saturday, Oct. 28, the stage has been set for a tightly contested battle to determine the final seeding for the upcoming BIG EAST Championship, Nov. 4-12. On the strength of a 2-1-4 league mark, Akron has claimed a berth in the tournament. With a victory at Butler on Saturday (Oct. 28), the Zips will be seeded No. 2, 5, 6 or 7 depending on the outcomes of the other five league contests. An Akron victory coupled with a Xavier loss at UConn and a Creighton setback or draw at St. John's will give the Zips the No. 2 tournament seed and an outright Midwest Divisional title. Akron can also share the divisional title and be the No. 6 seed with a win and a Xavier draw and Creighton loss, while a win coupled with a Xavier draw and Creighton victory will secure the No. 7 seed for the Zips and a divisional crown. A triumph by the Zips in other scenarios is expected to result in a No. 5 seed for Akron.1 point

These guys have had 3 months of practice since spring. It's time to see what they can do. There won't be much pressure with mostly parents and girl friends in attendance.1 point

If you get the right internationals. 2 are goalkeepers that haven't been in goal all season, except for 1 match and the other hasn't played in 2 seasons. Katarina Bilz is graduating and Renauld is a so-so MId. And how are you going to recruit internationally when your coaching staff has never done it? Thank you @72 Roo for echoing my sentiments all season long. And once again, thank you for pointing this out. Not trying to be negative about Coach Simonetti, but if she's THE coach, we should have seen it by now.1 point

My final prediction: Akron 2, Kent State 0 - 8 OT, Akron misses 13 field goals over the course of the game, thanks to Kent State kicking onside kicks left and right giving the Zips an average starting field position of the KSU 10 Total yards KSU: -127, UA: -112 Final play, KSU lines up for a 2 pt. conversion in the top of the eighth overtime, only for the center to somehow snap the ball 108 yards over the QB's head resulting in a safety good guys win. In all seriousness, I'm really not sure what to expect anymore. I think we all expect an L at this point, but I'm sure the feeling is mutual for Portage Co. HS, I really thought we had a great chance against BGSU. We did until we decided to run Madden plays and self destruct. For the sake of my bias, I'll say Zips 14, Flashes 10. Although, I'll be impressed if both offenses manage to find the endzone with offensive big brains Matt Johnson and Joe Moorhead clashing head to head. Gotta laugh at it, or we'll just be frustrated! See you all there, dress warm, temps look like they will plummet. Roll Zips1 point

I see little to inspire confidence in the women's program. Neither the coaching nor the recruiting is up to MAC standards. That is not a high bar to hit. The MAC is not considered a quality conference to send players to. The ECNL coaches do not steer their players there. The coaching especially bothers me. I don't buy into the excuse that the staff does not have their own players so losses are expected. If that is the case why coach? Coaching entails taking what you have and formulating a style and strategy that maximizes the existing players' ability. You put aside what you as a coach prefer until you have the essentials to make it happen. Meanwhile you maximize what you have. This doesn't guarantee wins, but it does build confidence in the players, and fans, that better times are ahead. Unfortunately I see no confidence building in this program. Perhaps another year changes that.1 point

And it's the KSUcks Wagon Wheel Game. Wow 😢 What's taken the pee out of me this year is that I had relatively high expectations coming in. I'm both demoralized and angry.1 point

Definitely marketing spin. Total enrollment up by a whopping 4 students over last year, but number of undergraduates down several hundred. More work to do to effectively communicate UA's value proposition to prospective students.1 point

I like the idea of the Zips Today podcast. 50% of the podcast is commercials though. Thankfully you can skip them but it is like trying to watch a 15 second highlight on ESPN.com but the ad to get there is 30 seconds.1 point

A game featuring the two worst teams in D1. If we lose it's an abomination. But... Even if we win it's still embarrassing to be a part of. Low times.0 points
