  2. And just like that, a Stefan Dobrijevic PK puts the Zips on top.

  3. Zips have only three shots and one shot on goal. If they can't beat this Marquette team they probably don't deserve to be in the tournament.

  4. DePaul and Providence tied 1-1 at the half. A tie would be helpful in this game. And in the continuing theme of Big East schools having ball field infields on their soccer pitches, DePaul does as well. I think only Creighton and Georgetown have equivalent soccer facilities to Akron's in the Big East. And unrelated but still strange ESPN+ is showing four NCAA women's hockey games at the same time on the same screen.

  5. The University isn't spending ~30 million a year just to provide life lessons to ~400 student athletes (if you even want to call them that anymore). That would be absurd. That might have been its intended purpose 100 years ago, but we've long moved past that. Now it's about enhancing the college experience, keeping alumni engaged, getting your name out there, and building good will in the community.

  6. The good news is that Chad Welker will be the announcer. Chad is very knowledgeable about the players and is very passionate about the Zips. Chad always does a good job.

  7. If anyone goes to the Trading Card game and doesn't want their cards, let me know. I am a big time card collector and will ironically be unable to attend due to my weekend shifts at the local card shop.

  10. My advice about attendance for fans is....stop worrying about it. I love college football and enjoy going to games. In addition, I don't care if there is anyone else at the game other than Mrs. GP1, the luckiest woman in the world. Big crowds create inconveniences for me (lines and traffic) I would prefer to not deal with. My ideal Wake game would be as follows. I have a parking spot right next to the stadium to tailgate. Once in the stadium, all bathrooms and concession stand would be open. The people required to run the game would be there including the scoreboard operator. Cheerleaders and band would be there. Ideally my wife and I would be the only two in attendance. I've gotten to the age where I really don't care for large crowds and find the experience of them overrated.

  11. The primary purpose of athletics is to provide life lessons to young people. The value shouldn't be measured in money or students, but if it is benefiting the athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron. Enrollment just went up. I doubt athletics is driving a lot of that increase.
