  1. Looks like another football recruit: Jayden Remplet 6-7 310 tackle from Kingston. PA!

  2. Between going to class, studying, practice, lifting weights drinking beer and trying to get laid, I didn't have time to think about this nonsense.

  3. @kreed5120.Who cares what GP1 thinks. He is just a Negative Nanny. I'm a former Zip football player. This is really a no brainer. Players will always tell you that they are extra motivated when we play a P4. When the spotlight is on the game, players are motivated. How much excitement do you feel coming from the players when we play on a rainy Tuesday night in front of friends and family?

  4. I am anxious to hear everyone's first impression of the Mighty zips. I really like the depth that Jared and staff have assembled at CB and FB.

  6. It's only a 3 day event. A group of 3 round robin would take 3 days to do as one of the teams would have a bye each day. Add in the final where you face the winner of the other group and it would require 4 day tournament to complete. We might have to just wait and see what they decided on.

  8. Makes me think it's two groups of 3 for a round robin with the winners playing in a final. I don't know if any coach would sign up and possibly get one less game in. Unless the bye teams played each other separately? Which also wouldn't make sense because they'd be most likely to play each other in the final too

  9. Looks like the team is wearing hoodies that say something about "creating our own luck". I hope they send one to Tod.

  10. He's here in 27 unless he quits. They can't afford to pay the buyout. That said even if they could 6-6 would make him completely safe.

  11. Think of the step up in both attention and program rise when the Zips joined the Big East. And maybe Embick would be open the scripting the opening play of the first home game. 😉

  12. If one of these media persons would win it's hard telling what they would try to do with the play calling but JoeMo had better let them do it or there could be some highly publicized blowback. Also, if one of them wins, people might assume it *was* rigged. Dr. G might want to put a bit of thought into how the drawing is managed.

  13. i personally am already excited about the season. I can't wait. I know we are not the only undefeated team in the MAC right now but i think we may catch some teams by surprise. I think this defensive line is going to be better than last year and I think they are really going to get pressure on the qbs. Tibs is a great coordinator and I think this publicity is only the beginning. ZIPS are going from bowl ban to bowl bound... stamp it !!!

  14. Doing some napkin math. It was said that Akron sold out it's suites for the first time in program history. The stadium only has 16 suites available for public sale and one has to assume a number of those were already sold. Let's assume this promotion sold 4, which would be conservative. Let's also assume it sold 50 or so Club Seats. Very possible it could have been more as this promotion brought attention to the program. It's obvious the biggest jump is the GA tickets as people are treating this as a closed $75 lottery. I don't think it's unrealistic if 2,000 "entries" were sold. Suites 4 X $15,000 = $60,000 Club Seats 50 X $515 = $25,750 GA 2,000 X 75 = $150,000 All totaled that would be ~$236K in direct additional revenue. That's about half of the $500K the school said they wanted the athletic department to erase from the deficit. That's not even factoring in any increases in merchandise, sponsorships, or donations from alumni who now feel more positive about the school and/or program. Not to mention a chunk of those 2,000 are actually alumni or locals. Some amount of them could be persuaded to renew. Not to mention all the free advertising for the school at a time where seniors are deciding where to send their applications. Not saying anyone would pick Akron based off a promotion, but it might lead a few to give the Akron website a look whereas they didn't consider it before. Then a few of those stumble on a program or something they like.

  16. I thought about this too but then you're running the risk of alienating the real fans who may have bought tickets with hopes of winning. Ideally, you could pair a real fan with a celebrity to do it as a team.
