I guess Pitt is steeped in history in the way a Lipton tea bag has been soaking in a glass of pee for a month. I read an article about the history of Pitt football about 10 years ago. At that point Pitt had winning records in only 38% of seasons in their history. It's a historically horrible program deserving of low attendance. The only thing making them interesting now is the ability to schedule more cupcakes at the beginning of the year and playing in the ACC that allows for lots of average teams to make a bowl.

I'm way late on a response, but did want to say it was nice to see you and your wife at the game! Appreciate the Asheville restaurant recommendation - Cúrate was excellent. Trip to Winston Salem was easy. Made it in under 7 hours. Tailgating at the fairgrounds was very reminiscent of the Rubber Bowl lot. Plenty of room. Unfortunately not many people used it. I'm sure for this week's Miami game it'll be a lot fuller. Once we left the lot and walked to the stadium, the paved lots along the way were full. They seems to be "hopping," but not a crazy tailgate environment by any stretch. We stopped by the UA Alumni tent, which was very nice. I think they bought food for 500 people, and maybe 60 showed up? It was nice to have the tent only a couple hundred feet from the entrance. Stadium was definitely on the level of InfoCision. The fans were good people. The Winston Salem band at halftime was a highlight! Awesome performance. Football in the south can be much more of a "formal" event. Enjoyed the college girls in their summer dresses and cowboy boots. Wish the game were more competitive. My wife was beat by the heat, so we left with about 7 minutes to go. Missed both TDs. Got to hear them via Skozen and Dunn on iHeart as we walked back to the car. Good time. Good people. Wish the game were more competitive, but it went as well as we could reasonably expect.

It is my understanding that UA does not collect more revenue from out-of-state students. It's just that out-of-state students have to pay what would otherwise be subsidized by the state for in-state students. That is, the revenue per student is the same, regardless of their state of origin.

YOY My understanding is the population of ohio is in decline and there are fewer kids going to college. It captures both volume and share of students. Ohio students should be primary. They also need to attract out of state students because of increased tuition costs.

This is going viral and the team entered the field as fans were in the concourse and not allowed in seats yet because of a lightning delay. A bit misleading.

Now move the game from Thursday to Tuesday night and add a much earlier sunset, much colder temperatures, and stronger potential for bad weather, and that's the attendance handicap created by MACtion. Also, tonight's contest between Pitt and Syracuse is a bit of a Haley's comet moment in terms of its rarity...it is a game of P4/5 teams that have both been defeated by the Zips! 🤘💪

This attendance was horrible for a school as steeped in history as Pitt. It gives me hope that we will overcome our attendance issues in the years to come because we continue to make incremental improvements to the program and the event experience.

To be fair this was last week in the rain. But all things considered we did awfully well in comparison.
