  1. I also enjoyed the thread about making the NIT if for some reason they don't win the MAC tourney. Teams from the MAC with good records don't make it, why would they take a team barely over .500? They better just focus on beating one of the good teams in the MAC, not just the also rans.
  2. To me the biggest concern is his growing tendency to leave the starters in way too long once the game is at hand. Why were the core players still on the floor with 1:00 minute left, let alone 3:00? I remember reading a comment on the BG board about this because we had main players on the court with a 40 point lead.
  3. "Typical Akron fans". It's always the bad apples that spoils the bunch...I think "Typical Fans" fits better here. I have been to many an arena or stadium at all levels and idiots like this are the norm. Go on any team's board and their fans are headed for sainthood and the opposing team's fans are Hitler worshippers. Someone had posted a link to Ohio's board about the OSU fans blasting them. What a joke that was with them blasting the Ohio fans (and even a few jabs at Zips fans). How the heck would they know what their fans are like? When's the last time OSU was in Athens playing? This isn't to start a "hate OSU" thread, it's just an example!
  4. After a tough tussle with Ohio, it's time to get a new thread started for the Zips next big MAC game. If anyone is really familiar with BG, please fill in some details. I'm not sure what to expect as they seem to be somewhat up and down with a nice wins over Ohio and Buffalo. Going by how the Zips normally respond at the JAR, I am guessing something like 74-60 Zips.
  5. In reality, how many do the big eleven actually play in bad weather? 1 maybe 2 a year. The big eleven season ends before Thanksgiving. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the SEC teams play more games in rainy and windy weather than they do, especially those in certain geographical areas (LSU, FLA). I heard Rizzo trying to make this argument in regards to "let's see how they would do playing the championship game in Columbus' bad weather". Someone reminded him that it was in the 60's that day with no percipation in Columbus.
  6. I find this SOS quite odd in that it doesn't seem to make mathematical sense. Last week I had done some figuring using the RPI ratings through the Dayton game (ours should have jumped with a quality win, OU bad loss, and Cant's win).UA: 4 games against top 100 rpi teams (including 2 wins), 5 against 100-200, 3 against 200-300, and 1 against 300+ team. Our worse loss was to a team ranked 142.Can't: 5 games against top 100 rpi teams (3 wins), 6 against 100-200, 1 against 200-300, 1 against 300+ team. Worst loss 241.OU: 4 games against top 100 (0 wins), 4 against 100-200, 4 against 200-300, 1 against 300+. Worst loss 84.While I understand the relevant rankings, How is our schedule SO much below these two (especially OU)? I'm not including Miami's as it was insane compared to all other MAC teams (except maybe Toledo).
  7. Very fair article. While it does make the lack of playing the big boys apparent, it doesn't necessarly blast him for it. I have mixed feelings on this, as I would rather see us playing more middle of the pack big conference teams than scheduling a large number of the Duke's of the world. Funny thing is that they tell the mid majors they need to schedule tougher opponents, and then use it as a reason you didn't get in when you lose them. If Ohio is on the bubble, don't tell me the good old boys won't put heavy emphasis on their 30 point butt kicking at Kansas as proof they didn't deserve to be in. Temple and Dayton were a good direction to go in, but we needed a Georgia Tech or Iowa type on the road as well. I understand KD's thought process of building a winning tradition, but the bottom line is getting to a tourney, even the sucky NIT.
  8. With Roberts to soon be on board and McKnees doing a decent job...redshirt for Steward?
  9. If he was just kidding, he is a sho in to replace Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump II.
  10. My family was at Great Northern Mall this weekend and went into some hole in the wall sports store. I had my Zips gear on and the idiot behind the counter asked me who they were. In fact he asked me if they were some "soccer club". I kind of laughed and said "you must not be from around here" and he replied that he lived here all his life! I had to explain to him who the University of Akron! I expect that when I am in NC for vacation, but in NE Ohio?? He then went into a stereotypical crappy Irish accent to say he was a ND fan (nuff said). Funny thing was there was another couple that came in as this was going on, as they were checking to see if they had any Zips gear. We all just laughed at him as we left. Sports related or not, how can you live in this area all your life and never hear of UA?
  11. It's all about name recognition, even those that come from other sports. The NIT was proof of that last year. If the selection committe is looking at 25 win Akron and 18 win Notre Dame, whose name is familiar to them? SOS is used to remove "mid-majors" and bottom feeder "big conference" schools from the mix. Look at Ohio State's schedule this year, while they do play NC and Florida (at home) they also have Wisc GB, Columbia, VMI, Coppin St, MD Balt Co, and the Blue Hose of Presbyterian. Add to that what looks like a weak Big Ten (only 2 teams in top 25), and they should cruise to a 20 win season and a high seed. While I understand Dambrot's feelings, he does need to schedule at least one big game a year. If for nothing more than to increase the local awareness of our program.
  12. They returned my email...sounds like they are out of business, at least for now. Back to square one.
  13. Zippysgotagun, I think you are missing the point...Can't is in our own conference, OSU is meaningless to us or the MAC. Our conference is desperate for respect and recognition, and these kind of losses only hurt ALL teams in the MAC. While the OSU fans may have been rejoicing at Michigan's lost to App State, you can bet the Big11 officials and coaches cringed. They know what it means, especially $$ wise, to not have their teams in any of the big bowls.
  14. Thanks. That is the place that is "under construction". They do have an email though. I will have to contact them.
  15. Where is a good place to order those custom Zips football jerseys with your own name on them? I need to get one for my kid. I searched some of the other threads and the only link I found to a site was "under construction". Thanks
  16. Oh, and Anderson's 2007 numbers are far from "sorry"Sorry, I thought we were talking about careers, I didn't realize that DA was only a rookie and only played this year...my bad
  17. The answer to your question is neither. Its funny that your "excuses" list has a lot to do with the sorry numbers for both. Too bad facts get in the way with some people. Going by this, the O line is no different this year than any previous year, the running game has been fantastic the last few years, and Edwards and Winslow haven't missed a game ever.
  18. You're right in that the line has done a much better job since game one.
  19. Even the Charlie haters on this board can't be serious with some of the stuff they write. As a Browns fan I am glad to see the TEAM doing well. I emphasize this because while DA has done a decent job, it is the pieces around him that are making the real difference. How can any of us compare CF's 1 series to DA's 7 games? You "football experts" can't be stupid enough to not realize this is a completely different team and offensive coordinator than CF (or DA for that matter) ever had in front of him. Before we annoint DA as the second coming of Kelly Holcomb, let's see how things go the next two weeks when the Browns play two attacking defenses. As Browns fans, let's hope the line does a better job than they did the last Pittsburgh game. All this comparison talk is a joke, as neither CF or DA were going to be the QB next year anyway. They didn't give up next year's draft and all that cash to watch BQ carry either one of their clipboards. Both of these guys will be backups somewhere next season.
  20. Do you like the "related photo" on that PD link? Other than replacing Charlie what does Derek Anderson have to do with UA or UB?
  21. What is the with the media's obbesion with Can't? I love how they justify having them above us by saying "games they should have one".
  22. I don't remember him being a "four star recruit" when we had him. I sometimes wonder if these services adjust the ratings based on who is recruiting them. Nice there is no mention of Akron either.
  23. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but does anyone think this has anything to do with him being involved in the Buffalo player getting hurt? You know how these teams don't like any negative press. Even though it wasn't his fault in any way, I am sure someone has tried to make a story out of it.
  24. For what its worth: College Soccer News - UA 26th, OSU 30thSoccerratings.com - UA 11th, OSU 20thAdidas - neither ranked in top 25
  25. "Dave Carducci is the Can't State beat writer for the Ravenna Record Courier."Ravenna Record Courier...Does anything else need said about the writer?
