Green Out, Harney in, Abreu playing
zipdiehard replied to Quickzips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Thanks for the information. What amazes me is that we are at a point that guys are leaving due to lack of playing time. There were times under Rupert and Crawford that I wondered if they would have the floor announcer ask if anyone wanted to play a few minutes. -

Well said, Jalepeno. We all want the same thing, we just have different ways of looking at it and going about it. -

I don't have to respect the point of view if it's pessimistic and foolish, which I think this is. Go Zips! Please explain what is foolish? What I have posted are facts. Skip Zip added points that I hadn't brought up, and he is 100% correct about the raised expectations. Some people call it pessimism, others call it realistic. I'm happy for you that you are content with winning a few MAC titles and losing in the 1st round pf the tourney. -

Everyone is free to look at this team however they like. I for one, choose to be realistic and see the good with the bad. You don't get better by sitting around talking about all the success you have had. You get better by fixing what is wrong. Listening to KD speak over the past years, I think I'd be safe in saying that he would agree with that. Winners focus on getting better, and 99% of the time that comes from fixing what is wrong. Yes, the good times have outweighed the negatives, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been without its bumps. Being realistic isn't being negative or unhappy. I've sat through hundreds of games and road trips through the past 30+ years, and KD is the best we have had. He has elevated this program to where it never has been, and hopefully will continue to raise it up. And that is coming from a huge Huggy fan. -

KD emphasized the word "big", so I was thinking another big man. -

Stop making sense spicy one. It can't be tolerated by many here. My statement was ridiculous? Let's see.. losses over the past few years: VCU (3 times), Dayton (3 times), CSU (2 times), RI (2 times),Temple (-35), NC state (-21), Pitt (-21), Minne, Miami, FL, Texas A&M and this year WV (-21), and freaking Middle Tenn by 24. I think these few examples show my point is far from ridiculous. The pessimist in me could also use your example to say that KD has lost more MAC championships than he has won. Like I said, I love having KD as our coach, especially your point about how he runs the program, but we have to start consisently beating even other mid majors before even being in the national conversation. -

I stand corrected...the guy passing the ball did not travel at the end of the game. It sure looked like it on the floor. Thanks for posting the video. -

Keith mentioned a "big" recruit being at the game last night. Any ideas who he was? -

Many great points on the last few comments. Sounds like I wasn't the only one screaming when Nik had the ball 30 feet from the hoop with seconds to go... Ziproo: I was thinking the same thing. I love Dambrot as our coach, but we have lost way too many games we shouldn't have. I have always felt the one chink in Keith's armor is the inability to win those games that differentiates a good team from a great team. I think this is exactly what has kept us from being "the next Gonzaga". I thought he had possibly turned the corner with the Miss State win, but then we go and choke away games such as Dusquene and Valpo. -
We did have chances, and so did VCU, but to not mention obvious bad or no calls that affected the outcome is a loser mentality. Their board would have been just the same had we pulled it out. I'm sure they would have mentioned Nik's three that was a two that Shaka got upset about, Q's two confrontations with their bench, or Alex's acting jobs on some of the fouls on him. I'm not one that accepts mediocrity. People continue to just accept bad officiating, just like they accept lazy work ethics and product quality. That is why America is in such piss poor shape, and why our people are a joke to most countries. Trying not to get dramatic, but I am sick of the bs mentality that "bad officiating is part of the game".

you mean like the guy clearly stepping out of bounds on their second to last possesion and the travel prior to the winning layup?

School to the East's reaction to the Terry Bowden hire

LOL. Notice not one specific or proof about "all" these alleged problems? Did you notice that supposed person from UNA posted there as well? Why would anyone from there waste time going on another MAC teams site just to post? I have a feeling he/she may just be a Can't troll. -
So how soon will some of you be sending TW "great job" emails and letters?
-
I agree with GP1 in that he is a good MAC player, but probably not an NFL player. I also agree that there are probably no big name teams lining up to get him for just one year. I don't see any real sense in transfering unless he just wants the hell out. If he was a stud player heading to the NFL I could see chancing sitting out a whole year just for one year. On that thought, any word on the extent of his injury? Perhaps it is bad, and the thinking is that he was going to sit out next year anyway...
-
We have to be honest with ourselves as well...we are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to D1 job openings. Chances are very slim that someone thought to to in line for an Illinois or UCLA is going to be sitting by the phone for Akron's call. Not saying there isn't strong interest, especially by guys trying to get their first shot at a job, but like in recruiting, schools like Akron come second. I'm for a more thorough search of good candidates, regardless of what division they coach in.

don't know why it would make a difference, but I clicked on the "gametracker lite" in the right hand corner, and now the video isn't locking up. ???

I have to admit that I am an eternal optomist when it comes to Zips sports. However after getting flat out destroyed the last two weeks by two of the dregs of college football, this coaching staff is done. -

I wonder if the poor attendance was due to a lack of promoting it? We have gone every year they have had it, and didn't hear a single thing about this year's event.

USAToday ranks Akron 182 out of 246 teams
zipdiehard replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips Football
These are always fun to look at, but not worth much. Central Florida is ranked 21 spots ahead of FIU even though FIU beat them, has the same overall record and a tougher schedule (per their own ratings). Plus, Can't is awful this year but is 50 spots ahead of us. I guess their tougher schedule pushed them up. They should be in the 180's just like us, as they are narrowly the 2nd worst team in the MAC. Can't wait for these two pathetic offenses to meet. -
Agreed. We have to start somewhere. We are all anxious, but let's face it that rebuilding a lower tier program does not generally happen overnight. Yes, there are exceptions, but in general it takes several years. Constant turnover of coaches does not help. I would love for us to be at the point where we could redshirt numerous players.

I think #5 has a good deal to do with some of #4. Every time I turned the game on Moore was under pressure. Add to that no running game because of the O line. I'm not giving up on Moore quite yet.
