Toledo, Kent, and Akron are all 1-1 against one another so the tie-breaker is that Kent has a better record against the current #4 seed than Toledo and Akron do. Once Kent wins that tie-breaker, Toledo is naturally seeded a head of us due to the head-to-head win.

Yes, I thought they did a really great job of sending help defense the moment Freeman dribbled then recovering fast enough defensively to prevent too many open looks. I've s*** on Toledo's defense as bad as anyone on this board all season, but they showed up with effort. They did a fantastic job of contesting Castaneda on 3's and forcing the ball out of Freeman's hands. They came in with a good game plan and more importantly executed it.

I really thought the game was lost when Freeman was out of the game due to foul trouble. When he picked up his 2nd foul in the 1st half, I believe the Zips were down 2. Toledo managed to extend that lead to as much as 11, and finished the half up 9. Akron rallied back in the 2nd half and were down 3 when Freeman picked up his fourth. I still don't understand that double foul. Toledo was able to them get the lead back to double figures with Freeman on the bench. I'm not saying this to make any excuses for the loss. Toledo was the better team last night. I felt defensively we had too many breakdowns for a team that prides itself on defense. They were particularly bad defensively when Freeman wasn't on the court. Groce will need to review the game and make adjustments before we play Toledo, which I'm sure he will. If we're to beat Toledo, we have to beat them with our style of play.

Too many breakdowns defensively. I've given Toledo a lot of crap all year for not playing defense, but they have certainly done a much better job tonight of contesting shots than Kent did Friday.

It's really pointless to have a discussion about seed without knowing the field. Using the Summit League as an example, if Oral Roberts wins their conferences bid, they most certainly deserve to be seeded ahead of Akron. All the other teams in that conference stink so Akron would be seeded ahead of any other of those teams.

I'm starting to feel nervous for this one because @nwakron has yet to say he's not feeling good about our chances this game.

Carry's scoring average is similar to last year, but his efficiency has been garbage. He's barely shooting .400 from the floor and is .271 from 3. Castaneda's competition, even before this game, for MAC POY is Rayj Dennis and Freeman IMO. Carry will probably make 1st team All-MAC, however, with how bad he's shooting, I don't think he's even deserving of that.

My best guess is it will be a voucher for a free taco bell taco.

I know I've certainly been having issues the past few days of logging in here. I would hope Akron wouldn't be sleeping on Toledo. Toledo is actually 10-3 against Akron over our last 13 match-ups. They are 6-2 against Groce during his Akron tenure. I'm guessing they're the only MAC program that we've had a losing record against over the last ~10 years.

MAC POY is as much a team award as it is a player one. Whoever wins it is pretty much always on one of the top 3 teams. It would be news to me if a player on a team with a losing record won it.

I brought 3 people to the Kent game on Friday. They all had a really great time. 2 of them even talked about getting season tickets next year after I told them how cheap it is.

It's moments like this that make a rivalry great. It's unfortunate we were on the wrong end of it that game, but we won the game that mattered

The Ravens with a healthy Lamar are a legit Superbowl contender. They were a goal line fumble away from knocking off Cincy despite playing their QB2. One would think they'd want to go with someone with proven NFL success to fill the vacancy. Even if he did take an interview, I'd think he is a long shot for the position

Nice, strong finish to the first half. Buffalo had a chance to get the deficit down to a manageable single digit deficit heading into the half, but Akron went on a nice run to close out the half.

I think Akron fans just aren't use to other programs wanting our coaches/assistants in football.
