  1. Knapke is nearly a 40% career 3P% shooter. Teague I was questioning why Riak was guarding him 20 feet away from the basket. Against Knapke you better not give him any space to shoot or he will burn you. For that reason I feel Reece, despite being undersized, would be the better option to guard Knapke.
  2. For being 6'11 he kind of plays small. 39% of his shot attempts are from beyond the 3-point line.
  3. I didn't really want to create a new recruiting thread for 2023 already and wasn't exactly sure where else to post this. I'm surprised Akron hasn't offered him yet given the connection LeBron has to the program.
  4. Kind of funny considering how often Dambrot said "not even Bob Huggins would come to the JAR" over the years. Duquesne certainly is no WVU. Kind of a shame for them they didn't schedule us. Had they won that would have been a huge boost to their resume. Now given how weak their OOC schedule was, they probably need to finish at least 3rd in the A-10 to have any chance of an at-large.
  5. NIU must use the league website to develop their game plan. I thought it was a bold strategy to leave LCJ completely unguarded for the 1st 5 minutes of the game, but NIU must not of thought he was a threat because he hadn't recorded any stats to date ?
  6. I know I'm in the far minority, but I'd like our next AD to be a basketball first guy. We keep investing money into football and not seeing any results. We keep just throwing bad money after bad money.
  7. We're certainly a completely different defense and rebounding team when Xeyrius isn't on the floor. In the WMU game WMU could barely get a shot off until Xeyrius got into foul trouble. Early in the 2nd half against NIU he picks up his 4th foul and sat out most of NIU 18-2 scoring run. I don't think it's any coincidence the margin ballooned back up when Groce decided to put him back in. If I'm an opposing coach I'm going to try to scheme ways to put him in a position to commit fouls whether it back trying to isolate him on the perimeter with a quick guard or try posting him up down low.
  8. I agree an at-large realistically isn't feasible. I just keep bringing it up because I know how much it makes @clarkwgriswold cringe hearing.
  9. We got the struggling to win at DeKalb monkey off our back. Now lets get the struggle to beat Toledo monkey off our back as well. We seem to be playing Toledo at the right time. I'm not sure what's going on with them. They should be playing much better than they are. Hopefully it takes them at least 1 more game before they figure it out, especially since Cheese and Reece may be a little banged up for this one.
  10. Akron is up to 37 in NET rankings. Last season NC State was the highest rated NET team to miss the tournament. Their NET ranking at the time of selection was #33. https://tenor.com/view/witch-witches-brew-cauldron-stir-the-pot-gif-12978168
  11. I haven't watched any of videos and I'm by no means an expert on evaluating how a high school players talent will transfer to the next level. That being said, right now Akron is as good, if not better, than any other offer he has outstanding.
  12. Even our open shots we're missing bad.
  13. We always play worse defense in the 2nd half.
  14. Miami is pissing away the game. They were up by as many as 16, but now only up 1.
  15. It looks like the NIU board finally got around to creating a game thread about 30 minutes ago. Just in general their board looks relatively dead compared to here. https://csnbbs.com/thread-892426.html
  16. Akron is 3 point favorites. The spread on the surface doesn't seem like enough given the way these 2 teams have played this season. I'd bet the game, but I've seen just as good Akron teams lose to even worse NIU squads in that arena.
  17. I was expecting LCJ to get MAC East POW this week, but it went to a different Zip. https://gozips.com/news/2020/1/13/mens-basketball-williams-tabbed-mac-east-player-of-the-week.aspx
  18. 20th in Mid-Major Madness. This poll includes the 10, MWC, and C-USA. https://www.midmajormadness.com/2020/1/13/21064518/college-basketball-poll-the-other-top-25-rankings-mid-majors-and-so-many-atlantic-10-teams
  19. I'm surprised to see he left for anything less than a head coaching job.
  20. No, and neither is the AAC, MWC, and C-USA. It's pretty much a coaches poll for mid-majors and those 4 conferences have opted out of participating. I guess they don't like being categorized as "mid-majors". It's particularly funny for C-USA who has taken a nosedive since they lost all their basketball schools to the AAC.
  21. That's last weeks poll for college insiders. A new one should be posted sometime this afternoon/evening. Some teams ahead of us lost last week so I'd expect us to move up some.
  22. The A10 is much improved this year so I'm expecting them to finish 10-8.
  23. Anything the Civic Center currently hosts can either be handled by the JAR or the John S Knight Center.
  24. I think I heard the announcers say LCJ had 12 fouls drawn near the end of the game. Ball State guards were just not quick enough to keep up with him, which led to them being out of position on defense. Personally, for a game that wasn't all that physical I thought their were a lot of fouls called. Granted Akron's 3 main ball handlers (LCJ, Cheese, & Xeyrius) are all terrific foul shooters so a tightly called game helps Akron, but personally I don't like to see games turn into free throw contests. I saw a lot of ticky tack fouls on both sides. Edit: Akron's foul shooting is going to make it challenging for any team to overcome a late game deficit. If we have Banks inbound it we can field a lineup of 4 80%+ ft% shooters, 2 of which are nearly 90%.
