  1. Yes, I was confused by this as well. Littleson also picked up his 4th foul with about 6 minutes left. He's one of, if not the best, 3 & D guy in the MAC this year. Getting him or Jackson out of the game could have really changed the complexion of the game.
  2. You guys are looking at the wrong end of the court. We scored enough points to win. We lost because Toledo shot 50% from the field, 44% from 3, and 89% from the line. Add in they outrebounded by 9 and did a good job of not turning it over then it's easy to see why we lost. This was a team loss. You aren't going to win too many games when you need your team to score 92+ points in regulation to win
  3. You just aren't going to win games when your opponent shoots 50% from the field, 40% from 3, and 90% from the line. Add in the fact they're out rebounding us by 10 and it's surprising we're not down more
  4. Would be nice to attack the basket considering both their guards have 4 fouls
  5. Man the MAC sucks this year. The first 2 years these rankings came out I think the MAC had at most 1 team at any given moment ranked 300+. This year 25% of the conference is that low. Toledo has an NIT at-large resume. They won't sniff March Madness without the MAC's bid.
  6. The AAC doesn't want to be a part of the poll, which is why they're excluded. The WCC does want to be included, which is why Gonzaga is included.
  7. Frankly we need to play better team defense than we played 3 weeks. The #1 MAC defense shouldn't give up 83 points in regulation
  8. I feel we're playing better team basketball now than we were when we played Toledo 3 weeks back. Back then we kind of knew we were going to get 20+ from LCJ, but didn't know where else the points were going to come from. Now we're able to win games without LCJ needing to score much
  9. I'd say M. Jackson is in the competition as well. This award is as much an individual award as it is a team one. The last time a player won it and his team didn't finish top 2 in the MAC was the 2009-2010 season.
  10. It was great a few years ago when nearly every MAC conference game was on ESPN+. I not only was able to watch the Zips games, but I could flip to catch the end of some other games that interested me. It never gets boring to watch Kent lose.
  11. Dambrot would have gone back to making something in the neighborhood of $600k/yr. If I recall right that big bonus was a 1 time bonus built into his contract for staying past a certain date. I don't think it's fair to say that Dambrot left purely because of the money. He turned down the Duquesne job I believe twice and 1 of the Florida C-USA schools that were willing to offer more than what he made at Akron. He probably turned down some others along the way as well. I feel it had more to do with Dambrot knowing that his time as a coach was nearing an end and he wanted to experience a tourney run before it came to an end. He has said in numerous interviews that he doesn't plan to coach well into his 70s. His last Akron team was probably his second best team from a talent stand point and he was going to need a complete rebuild as Kwan, Big Dog, and from the sounds of it Noah also made up his mind to leave. Meanwhile, his fathers alma mater came to him and showed a commitment to want to win. Either way it worked out for us. It's still to be determined how it will work out for Keith. If he isn't able to get a tourney win at Duquesne then I'd say it was a bust for him.
  12. We don't have much room to talk. We thought a new football stadium would elevate our football program...
  13. One would think the school with Ball in their name would have the arena named the JAR
  14. I just feel the MAC was better in the 1980s-early 2000s than it is today. The MAC use to actually send players to the NBA (Boykins, Bonzi Wells, Kaman, Wally, Harper) and actually competed for at-large bids. That and the tournament wins i why I have Coles ahead of Dambrot, but certainly the argument could be made otherwise.
  15. Who is the greatest Akron coach vs who is the greatest MAC coach would be two entirely different discussions. As of today I don't think either is a debate. Dambrot is still the most accomplished Akron coach. I'd say Charlie Cole was the greatest MAC coach. With times things can change. Edit: Huggins proved to be a better coach than either of them thus far, but his success didn't come at Akron.
  16. I don't see the appeal in moving our best rebounder further away from the basket.
  17. Groce would need to stay here 8-10 years IMO before it would even be worth start comparing resumes. Last years team was pretty great. It would certainly up there with Dambrot's best teams, but that was only 1 season.
  18. You took the words right out of my mouth
  19. I don't think anyone here has anything against people who were hesitant at first of the hire. It was more so the people who posted Groce first year that were posting in a way that made it seem they were getting enjoyment out of Akron having a bad year because Dambrot wasn't the coach that irked this board. You see those same type of fans posting on the football board currently.
  20. That would certainly be true under normal circumstances, but I'm not certain all teams will get all their games in. Buffalo for example still has to make up 3 games already, including one against us. It's very feasible that we could end up tied with Toledo in number of losses, but have 1 fewer win. It would be total BS if we beat them twice and have the same number of loses that we wouldn't be champions, but the possibility exists.
  21. I certainly remember. The ones that are still around have admitted it was a good hire given what he accomplished last season. The others must have moved over to the Duquesne message board as I haven't seen them around lately. Perhaps they're just lurking waiting for their chance to say I told you so. If that's the case they will have a long wait as we're positioned to win long-term.
  22. Short of him getting 7 figure offers elsewhere I say extend him. Eventually I think he will leave on his own so I'm going to enjoy him while he's here
  23. Yes, I'm not going to lie a few weeks ago I was starting to become concerned how this team would perform once LCJ leaves. A lot of players have stepped up their games the past few weeks
  24. I feel Toledo is a pretty good. From what I've seen I'd say Toledo, Akron, and BG are the three best teams in the MAC this year. The MAC as a whole though is much weaker than it has been the past few years. Last years Akron team would have stream rolled this conference.
  25. Love to see that we're exploiting their zone. We already have 8 offensive boards and hold a 34-18 advantage in rebounding
