Yes, the PD downsized last season right after college basketball season.

Bowling Green is going to be really good next year if they can avoid the transfer bug. The only seniors they have that played meaningful minutes are Frye (who left the team already) and Marlon Sierra (big that plays ~10 minutes a game). They have a lot of young, promising players that should pair nicely with Turner and Plowden. Huger has done a really good job of building a sustainable program.

Akron's 1st 6 games of conference play is the best stretch of games any MAC team has played this season. We lost the Toledo game during that stretch, but Toledo kind of shot the ball out of their mind that game. We had some defensive lapses, but even the low percentage shots they were putting up were falling. Since then not only has our shooting regressed, which it was bound to, but I feel our defense has regressed quite considerably as well. I'm not sure if teams have learned how to attack our defense better or if we're just not giving the same level of effort on the defensive end that we were earlier in the season. We were 2nd in the MAC in defensive efficiency per kenpom a few weeks back. Now we're 5th. We need to get back to that hunger we had earlier in the season of wanting to have the MAC's #1 defense.

Where are you coming up with that number? He's shooting the ball 31.8% from 3, which isn't good. He's also shooting 37.9% from the field and 68.7% from the charity. He's been an extremely inefficient scorer this season.

I'd imagine Ali would be the guy because of his length and defense. Having Tribble or LCJ guarding Turner would be a huge liability. Edit: I'm actually of the mindset Banks will play. If his back is still aching, my concern is it will impact his shooting.

I stumbled upon this graphic. As you can see below, the 2nd and 3rd highest viewing market for the Seattle - DC game were Cleveland and Columbus. This begs the question. When will the XFL expand to Ohio? There is clearly a thirst for more football.

I actually watched a good chunk of the Toledo-BGSU game. I was impressed with Davin Zeigler, who is going to be the main beneficiary of Frye's departure. Losing Frye will hurt them some, but I don't see it derailing their season. Kind of crazy how he was hardly playing prior to Frye's departure yet he looked better than anyone Akron has on our bench. I guess that's a luxury of having lots of depth.

Not all that surprising when you take into account they lost to Norfolk State and Quinnipiac. In their defense they were without Turner, but the ranking systems don't care about those type of things.
-
I'd normally agree, but EMU came in something like 340th in the country in ft% and was making <50% for the game.
-
I'm looking at what the standings are as of today. 8-3 is a better winning percentage than 7-3. I'll place Akron ahead of NIU once (if) they pass them in the official standings.

I believe this is how the MAC is currently seeded based off of tie-breakers. 1) BGSU (9-2) 2) NIU (8-3) 3) Akron (7-3) 4) CMU (6-3) 5) Ball State (6-3) 6) Kent (6-5) 7) Buffalo (6-5) 8 ) WMU (4-6) 9) Ohio (3-7) 10) Toledo (3-7) 11) Miami (2-8) 12) EMU (2-8)

MAC Men’s Basketball - Catch-all Thread

He has no remaining eligibility left so it's not like he's doing it to transfer. Hopefully it's not because of any serious medical reason. -
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. We had no business winning that game based off of how we played.
-
Well that's the game...
-
EMU is trying to give us this game, but the Zips seem to not be wanting it.
-
We should just put Sayles in the game and have him foul Toure whenever Toure catches a pass.
-
Reece couldn't guard Toure anyway. EMU was going to exploit that matchup.
-
I think we need to attack early. EMU has a lot of guys with 2 fouls. Personally, I'd like to get Toure a 3rd or 4th foul ASAP. I don't see Reece being able to match up with him.
-
If someone told me before the game that Xeyrius, Banks, and LCJ would have a combined 2 points at the half, I would have guessed the Zips would be down by 20 at the half, not 3.
-
We need to attack the basket. Maybe if they see some free throws fall in, they'll start making shots.
-
At this stage I can't imagine there are that many places he'll be able to go. I'm surprised he waiting until now to make this decision instead of prior to national signing day.
-
EMU is going to slow this game down and try to limit the Zips to a point total in the 50s to low 60s. Banks, Cheese, and Xeyrius need to get back to making their open perimeter shots.

MAC Men’s Basketball - Catch-all Thread

Personally, I'll be cheering for DeKalb & Canada as I think the Flushes and Chipps are more serious competitors to us for an improved seed. -
Out of curiosity, why are some players highlighted blue and others gold? I imagine it's supposed to distinguish between something, but can't figure out what exactly.

I would have guessed that Marreon Jackson would be the top contender as he's the only other MAC player consistently putting up gaudy scoring totals in MAC play. I guess when your team is 3-6 in conference play that automatically disqualifies you. Turner is probably another guy to keep an eye on. His numbers aren't as good as LCJ, but BGSU is currently in 1st place.
