I wanted to throw my laptop when that kid asked about the trivial 21 win per season streak. The only things I found useful out of listening to the entire press conference was hearing we have 1 assistant (Dustin Ford) while still searching for our others and hearing him say what type of ball we expect to see. All the other questions were either poor or the answers doctored to not really say a whole lot.

Has anyone ever gone to one of these meet-and-greets? What are they like? I'm contemplating whether or not to rearrange my schedule to attend.

We signed another 4 year deal with Marshall so they'll be on the schedule for sure.

We played @Villanova and @Akansas as part of the pre-season NIT tournament. Those were not buy games. We played @Creighton and @Gonzaga because we landed ourselves in a 2nd rate tournament and wanted some teams on value on the schedule. Our only home and home this year was Marhsall. The other games we purchased.

It would be nice if the ABJ would assign us a beat reporter that at least attended UA. Maybe this way we'd get someone who views the position as something more than just a paycheck.

At the mid-major level it's all about locking up quality home and homes as trail of tears tours do nothing but destroy your program. Dambrot often made reference that we couldn't even get "our old friend" Huggins to agree to a 1 and 1 or even a 2 and 1. I expect Duquesne to now be something better than a perennial A-10 bottom feeder. It would be nice if we can sign a 4 year home and home with them. It could be the start of a good rivalry, meanwhile, it's a short trip for both.

He didn't have to take the Akron job. He has offsetting language in his Illinois contract so every dollar we pay him, that is 1 less dollar Illinois has to. There is no doubt in my mind that had he taken the Indiana assistant gig this season, he would have had offers next year.

I don't feel strongly one way or the other. I can see both sides of the story. I just like the Zips are still financially invested to want to continue and build on the success that Dambrot brought. How this hire works out we'll have to wait and see.

You bring up some valid points, but the MAC BEast is the only division that matters. The MAC West is the JV division.

The Zips targeting a guy like Groce says the Zips are still committed to winning basketball. They could easily went the cost efficient route and played it off to the fans. You don't spend large money on a guy like Groce then cut the basketball budget. That would defeat the purpose.

I lived there from spring 2009 thru fall 2012. We threw our fair share of parties so it's very likely that you attended some.

It should have been condemned before we moved in, but we put the finishing touches on it. We were the last tenants before it got bulldozed.
