  1. Me at work waiting for GT to write a real article on the Zips coaching search.
  2. Kling Street directly next to FedEx. House has since been demolished.
  3. Basketball recruiting classes typically consist of 2-3 guys. I want the 2-3 best players that we can get regardless of what state or even country they come from. In football where you need 15-20 guys per class it becomes more important to be able to recruit locally.
  4. https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Football Bowl Subqa 12 8 14.pdf Edit: Ohio sponsors 10 women sports and 6 men sports. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-American_Conference
  5. Was it the notorious Sully?
  6. We currently have 7 men's sports, 10 women's sports, and 1 co-ed (rifle). They could cut rifle and men's golf or they could keep rifle and cut both men's and women's golf.
  7. You can cut men's golf, but keep women's golf. That's what CMU does.
  8. Duquesne was the only Pittsburgh team that I didn't hate. Namely because I felt pity for how terrible they've been. They've since been added to the list.
  9. It's pretty bad we have to rely on sketchy twitter handles, other teams message boards, and 1 ZN.o poster for our coaching updates. It would be nice if the local media at least made an effort to make it at least appear they were trying to cover the coaching search.
  10. It's set by NCAA. FBS D1 schools have to sponsor 16 sports. Non FBS schools only have to sponsor 14.
  11. New arena funding strategy: We're going to give @NWAkron money to play the lottery with numbers he picks.
  12. We are at 18 sports currently. If we were to cut sports to get down to 16, it would most likely be men and women's golf or men's golf and co-ed rifle.
  13. I think the real question is at what point does the MAC feel there is no longer a need to sponsor men's soccer. They may and probably will still sponsor it with 4 teams playing, but men's soccer could very well end up on the chopping block very soon at one of WMU, NIU, or BGSU.
  14. I agree 100%. It's not like he bit off more than he can chew by going to a highly competitive league then got ran out of town for failing to meet lofty expectations. He went 19-43 in the MVC.
  15. Akron currently sponsors 18 sports with the minimum requirement being 16. With now only 4 MAC teams sponsoring soccer I'd say that would be the easy pick except for the fact that's the sport we excel at. Title 9 would make it challenging to cut women's sports. I'd say if we were to cut more sports it would be rifle and/or men's golf.
  16. The MAC would have to add another team to keep its auto bid.
  17. Virginia passed legislation that limited how much schools are allowed to subsidize their athletic programs. Some other states have already passed similar type of legislation or are in discussion about passing similar type of legislation. With how big of a political issue the rapid raising costs of college has caused, I feel it's only a matter of time before we see something similar in Ohio. http://pilotonline.com/sports/mcauliffe-signs-bill-that-limits-athletic-student-fees/article_337e7bec-d46e-5e15-bba6-6fc8de3a5f01.html
  18. Yeah, Groce went 37-53 in B1G play making only 1 tourney in his 5 years. He's certainly either going to have to be an assistant somewhere or take a head coach job at a mid-major for a few years before he earns another opportunity making $1M+ at some big name program.
  19. UCSB job has already been filled. http://www.azdesertswarm.com/basketball/2017/3/30/15120176/arizona-basketball-joe-pasternack-leaving-wildcats-to-be-head-coach-at-uc-santa-barbara-recruiting
  20. I was just typing this exact thing.
  21. I'm kind of torn on Groce. He went 34-30 in the MAC regular season, but somehow still managed to win 3 NCAAT games. He then goes to Illinois and makes 1 NCAAT appearance in 5 years in a conference that routinely receives 5-8 bids. Given his underwhelming performance at Illinois, he might need to go to someplace like Akron for 2-3 years to prove himself before he gets another chance at one of those larger schools.
  22. So outside of Georgetown we appear to be the best opening still available.
  23. I get it you feel he is a poor recruiter, I don't. Lets agree to disagree and move on.
  24. Does anyone have a listing of what jobs still remain open?
