  1. Cleveland would be nice. Another option would be to team with the Hall of Fame Village if the project ever gets completed. After all, many of these MTE are hosted by regional tourist destinations and bank on hotel stay, dining, entertainment, etc to breakeven.
  2. We played a regular season game there last season.
  3. I honestly hope not. I'd much rather go to Cleveland, the Bahamas, or wherever and play real teams on a neutral court. We already play enough cupcakes at the JAR every year. Using the MTE to schedule more is a waste.
  4. I know there was some talks about him playing the wing during the draft process. I kind of always viewed him either as a potential stretch 4 or as a 5 in a small ball lineup. He plays much bigger than his 6'7" frame. You probably wouldn't want to have him play 30 minutes a night at the 5, but against the right opponent or matchup he can provide a change of pace and versatility to a lineup.
  5. I wouldn't necessarily call any OOC schedule 'easy'. At least not until we show that we can consistently beat other mid teams.
  6. I see they finished 6th in the Horizon last year and even though it's technically a "neutral" court, we'll be playing Milwaukee in Milwaukee.
  7. I'm just not as sold on Young as some of you are. That's not to say he won't be a great player. It's just my expectations for him year 1 are tempered. I think Harris has the highest ceiling potential for next season.
  8. It sounds like he won't be eligible to play in the summer league games, but will be able to practice with the team. Probably as an extra body for the scout team.
  9. We've played in the UTEP tournament 5 or so years back and that didn't count as our mid-season tournament exemption.
  10. Yes, that's kind of when they were just establishing themselves as a premier mid-major. What separates a program like St. Mary's from a George Mason or Middle Tennessee is that St. Mary's has shown they aren't a flash in the pan. This also brings me to the point of how much I miss BracketBusters.
  11. They have played 4 times and Kent is 1-3 against them, at least according to Kent's website. Then again we all know how much Kent struggles with numbers. The last time Saint Mary's played at Kent was 2008. That was before they established themselves as one of the premier mid-major programs in the country. It's certainly a golden opportunity to add a quality win, but I don't expect them making a return trip to Akron next year. The reality is Akron needs to elevate ourselves to Saint Mary's level before we start getting schools like St. Mary's to agree to come to Akron. We're not that far off, but we need to be more consistent and find ways of beating programs like UCLA, Utah State, and UNLV instead of just hanging around and narrowing losing.
  12. They hosted Kent last year and there isn't a return game at Kent this year. I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  13. I'm hopeful next year, but a lot of that is based off of potential. It's still to be seen how these incoming transfers perform with an expanded role. Either way with the roster turnover, I expect 1-2 ugly losses during OOC as this team will need time to build chemistry.
  14. The reality is rankings shouldn't be published yet, but those advanced metric websites want the ad or subscription revenue so they keep them going. They're not worth your time this time of the year. I wouldn't fret on them.
  15. At the very least we need to wait until January. That way there is a 12-15 game sample size for each team.
  16. If we got UNLV to come to the JAR, that would be a huge get.
  17. I don't know about App State or Arkansas State, but JMU lost their coach and pretty much their entire team. I don't view it as a missed opportunity.
  18. I don't follow the podcast scene so I can't say nor care.
  19. I'm a generous individual. I'm willing to pass the bobblehead onto the next closest individual.
  20. Exactly, I've seen multiple articles from the Cleveland Plain Dealer regarding Freeman.
  21. It's probably more likely that a school like Buffalo will emerge as another contender. They've shown a willingness to spend in the past. They just had their program derailed by a bad coaching hire.
  22. I could be mistaken, but i believe hilltopper said Pat was asked to leave the team and didn't finish the 2016 season with the team.
  23. To be fair, it's a terrible rule and should be changed. If college football players can play in up to four games in a much shorter season, I don't see why college basketball players shouldn't be allowed to play in up to 7-8 games.
  24. College basketball is different than college football. If you play in any game, your redshirt is burned. Freeman played in 7. Here is an article from just this past season that states the rule. https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/anthony-grant-on-college-basketball-redshirt-rule-its-antiquated-and-needs-to-change/CWFQ245OUVDNPEMHMLUMXOD5UE/ Ali played in half his teams games and the injury wasn't season ending. I don't see anyway he would have gotten approved for a medical redshirt, but we can agree to disagree.
  25. I feel many MAC schools have given up trying to compete in basketball. It will probably just be Akron, Kent, Toledo, and Ohio looking to contend. Everyone else seems to focus only on football.
