The MAC certainly looks strong at the top with Toledo and PCCC. Being objective I'd slide Akron right behind them, but after that I don't see much to be excited about regarding the MAC. A few teams like EMU and Ohio have given some good teams a scare, but have also lost to some really bad teams as well.

Glad my 3 hour drive to Detroit isn't going to waste
-
How are they even going to make it to Detroit then if they haven't already left?
-
If Buffalo, BG, and OU all finish 6-2 then UB would win the division since they have the best division record of the 3 teams.
-
I feel the difference is the NFL can actually afford to eat the cost of hosting that game at a neutral site. The MAC can't afford to rent out Cleveland Browns Stadium or wherever for a meaningless regular season game.

It beats not playing the game for them. They need to win their last 2 games to have any chance of winning the MAC East and needs 1 more win to be bowl eligible. This game getting cancelled really wouldn't matter to Akron. Our season is already shot. Buffalo needs this game played otherwise there is a pretty decent chance they won't even make it to a bowl and no chance of representing the MAC East in Detroit.

Why don't they just move the game to Akron?

Zips Mens Soccer to join the Big East
kreed5120 replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
College soccer doesn't generate TV dollars so I can't imagine we'd see anything financially from this. It might lead to more scheduling in Olympic sports since there will be more familiarity. Big East schools still won't come to the JAR for a basketball game though. -
If all 3 of those teams in the MAC East finish 6-2 in MAC play then Buffalo would win the East via having the best record in division games

SDSU knocked off the Bonnies tonight.

8/16 from the charity stripe...

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but we got a 3 games in 3 days tournament coming up. I don't know how we can survive that with a 7-man rotation, especially when our M.O. is maximum effort for 40 minutes. I'd love to see us able to put this game away early that way we can get some other guys some much needed experience.

I could be wrong, but I don't think this is quite an apples to apples comparison. TV numbers are measuring the average numbers of viewers at any one particular moment. So if someone leaves the broadcast and another viewer turns on the channel at that exact moment, that equates to 1 viewer. Unique viewers would be counting that as 2 as they're just counting anyone who logs into the broadcast regardless of how long they watch. That said, it's still really good and one has to wonder if Barstool will try to expand and cover more games a crossed D1 in the future.
-
While I don't disagree with what you're saying and we certainly need more production out of them, I don't think the fact they had 0 other D1 offers matters much. Our best player was a former walk-on. Players fall through the cracks all the time. What I find concerning is that neither has improved much year over year

I still think this team can compete in the MAC, but it will have to be with the defense. Toledo struggled majorly when UAB applied pressure to ball handlers. Much like how MSU struggled last night when we applied that same pressure. The thing is we can't play with that level of intensity for 40 minutes with only a 7 man rotation. Groce needs to expand the rotation and give other players meaningful minutes for us to play a havoc style defense for longer stretches of a game. It might lead to a few more losses in November and December, but IMO it's our only chance to compete in March against teams like Toledo and EMU who are more talented offensively.

I just think we're not a good shooting team. Outside of X who else do you trust to take a 3? Hankerson maybe?
