  1. I feel another point is that just because someone is a bad OC and play caller doesn't mean they're a bad QB coach. Tons of people get promoted to roles that they're either not ready or good at despite being really good at a lessor role. Look at Bill Callahan as a prime example. The dude is 18-25 all-time as a head coach, but is regarded as the best offensive line coach in the NFL.
  2. People are talking about Trimble defensive improvement, but what about Ali on the offensive end? I remember when he started as a freshmen he was almost afraid to put up a shot. Now he might end up being our #2 or #3 scoring option.

  4. I agree the costs are really exaggerated in college athletics. Namely for scholarship and room and board. The real cost is how much do we spend feeding the players and how much they cost us in utilities. I suppose cost for some specially allocated GA tutors as well. The class rooms and dorms are already there so no cost there. It still costs a lot of money to feed 250+ scholarship athletes and I'm sure they combined cost the university thousands in utilities, but the marginal cost of having them on campus is much less than what's quoted. Edit: what we spend on coaches, athletic facilities, and travel are very much real.
  5. Liberty is paying us something like 1.3 million to go and play them without a return game. That is a money game since it wasn't a home and home agreement.
  6. Saw on zipsmbb instagram page that he signed his NLI today
  7. I tried the non-GA tickets just to see and they worked fine. It sounds like this is an ongoing issue if it's spread a crossed multiple sports. Unlike you I'm not going to even bother calling the ticket office. I'll just save myself the $150. The ticket office needs to get their sh!t together. I'm obviously not the only one passing up on tickets.
  8. These are the kenpom rankings, which are computer rankings. They factor in last year and preseason rankings until like early January. They can't really do it any other way as there isn't really a large enough sample size. Heck quite a few teams haven't even played yet. Once you get into the end of December these rankings start to paint a better picture.
  9. I suppose I'll be watching the games from the comfort of my couch this season. I tried ordering off gozips and it keeps telling me the seats you selected are no longer available. I'm trying to order GA. No way they're all sold out. It's 2021, it shouldn't be this challenging to get tickets.
  10. Wish granted. Edit: If I remember right we were #139 going into the game.
  11. I don't think this team has the same top level of starting talent that the LCJ, Cheese, Banks, Xeyrius team did, but they're deeper. You could see at points Groce used this aggressive style of defense for stretches in year past, but he couldn't maintain it for an entire game as he knew he would tire out the team given the lack of bench depth. I expect to see this same style of defense start to finish every game assuming we stay healthy.
  12. If any football coach for a team they actually cared about went 3-24 regardless if it's high school, college, or pro they would be calling for their head. They want to give Arth more time because they don't care about losing. In fact they expect it. It's that kind of loser mentality that keeps programs down.
  13. NIU beat Washington 71-64
  14. They gifted it to us by passing on second and third down. Sometimes play callers get in their own way.
  15. Given the youth of the offense whoever comes in and takes this job should be sitting in a good place from a talent standpoint on that side of the ball if they can convince the players to stay. The defense needs tons of work. We probably should hit the transfer portal hard.
  16. Can someone explain to me why WMU is throwing the ball when they're averaging 7 yards per carry?
  17. Miami just knocked off Georgia Tech 72-69
  18. We really should have fronted the big
  19. Need to find a way to get a 5th foul on Liddel
  20. I'm calling ticket office tomorrow and am ordering season tickets. Love this defense.
  21. It looks like WKU and MTSU joining the MAC fell through. I actually would have liked having WKU as I feel they would have raised the quality of both MAC basketball and MAC football.
  22. We just need to find a way to keep it close until the final few minutes and hope we have a few bounces go our way down the stretch. This is probably a game OSU wins 9/10 times.
  23. The opposite is true for Akron. I expect to lose all but 3-4 games by 3-4 scores. At least with OSU you're on the winning side of it... I often find myself watching OSU games more so just because I'm hanging out with friends who are watching it. Even as an Akron fan I still do enjoy watching OSU when they play Michigan, Penn State, or some other team that's at that type of level.
  24. Winning certainly helps, but it alone won't pack Infocision. Akron basketball is a prime example of that. During our prime years under Dambrot we still averaged ~3500 fans in a 5500 seat arena while selling out maybe 3-4 games a year. Granted football is certainly bigger than basketball in northeast Ohio (well pretty much anywhere in US), but Infocision takes 5x the number of people to fill. Really only men's soccer achieved that sustained sell out status and that required a stadium that seats what maybe 1200? While also being a national powerhouse.
  25. I swear if we just failed having a D3 college coach and then turn around and hire a D2 high school coach for the job I'm seriously done with Akron football forever. We need someone who knows how to run practices, recruit, and game plan at an FBS level. If they want to bring Tyrell on the staff then that's fine make him a positions coach.
