Toledo reminds me a lot of the Zips last year. When things get tough, they have a few guys who can put the dagger in from the 3 point line and can turn it on in crunch time.
I guess the line moved to -1 in favor of the Zips. Whatever. Zips are the underdogs for this tournament. Hopefully, they catch everyone by surprise. Glad it's not the 11am game.
And not to dispel the myth but the OU 2010 team was mediocre on paper and just came out of nowhere. 2012 was a 3rd seed. The accomplishment was getting those NCAA tourney wins...and the 2012 draw was...well...not at all like the gauntlet Buffalo had to run when it reached the Dance. But if any coach can motivate them he can.
Not like we are coming off two big wins over our biggest rivals OU an PCCC heading into this. Zips are limping in. Unfortunately, in Groce's 4 years he hasn't had the true opportunity to make a tournament run. (2 because of COVID and 2 because he didn't have the players).
Looking at the message boards for the other schools, it's the same. Nothing much on Toledo's board. Kittens are worried about something or other. BG...unhappy with the world. Ball State they hate Whitford. PCCC delusional. Buffalo misses Oates. All disconnected.
What coach can get his seniors motivated? I doubt many of them will be coming back to their respective schools with the world opening up and lots of opportunities in Europe. Do you want to stay another year in Bowling Green or Toledo or Akron when you could be in France or Sweden making $ and seeing the world. Jimond Ivey is in Luxembourg! Utomi is in Finland!
I thought the Zips had the inside access to WV players. Looks like the BGSU administration will have their minds on something other that basketball this week:

This is hard to watch, but we will be back next year and will appreciate the Zips even more. (Stumble upon this. Usually, can't find replay of CBS games).
Ugh. With 3.9 seconds left LCJ pushes Santiago and could have been called for a foul or was it a flop. Yikes
Well, then he should just be honest about it. I think we all remember after the final game last year he said that the game wasn't that important, etc, even though he looked like he was trying very hard to win.
