Akron has had a tougher schedule. They talk about Buffalo winning 7 of their last 8. They lost Toledo by 10 and then beat EMU and NIU before handily beating Ohio and beating Zips by 2 with what could say was a 2nd half collapse by the Bulls. Buffalo and Ohio both had a few weeks off here and there. Since 1/9th Zips have had one game postponed and 7 out of last 10 on the road. And Ball State's been sitting at home for a couple months? screw that. Let's get everyone on an equal playing field then start seeing what's up.

and CMU was playing without Broadway, their top scorer, AND without their point guard. Toledo was playing for outright. MAC. championship. Marreon was. out of control at the end, throwing up off balanced lay ups, getting a charging foul at the mid court line. CMU guy Huffman making some crazy 3 pointers and then fouling out. And CMU had lost 8 straight. It's March.

With Toledo losing and Zips making that 20 point come back and OU having COVID issues (allegedly) you just never know. I hope this long slog for the Zips and the adversity will carry them through next week.

Now they say OU and KSU cancelled just to be "cautious" and OU plans on playing BG on Friday. OU is shady. I recalculated and if Akron wins they are a 3rd seed against the winner of OU and BG. Would play Buffalo in semis if Buffalo beats Ball State. Truly March Madness?

Pulling out a win at the end would have been amazing but Groce us right in that the quality of play matters most. Hopefully, all these ups and downs will prepare them for Cleveland. Their best stretch was during the NBA part of the schedule although there were some Michigan teams in that mix

I didnt watch but caught Groce interview after game and he said about 20x he was really proud of the guys on the floor at the end. Who was there besides Freeman and LCJ?

Wouldn't say it was a lie but definitely a panacea.

And replace with whom? Wynn? Groce is out of options. This team has tuned out.

1. Ali, Freeman, Trimble, and Dailey aren't Cheese, X, Riak,and Banks. 2. Pulling a new team together in this environment has to be nearly impossible with no Summer bonding or a pre season. 3. This season sucks for everyone.

We have 20...do we have 30? Reminds me a lot of 2018-2019 season ending. Will be crushed first round in Cleveland.

We've all been around long enough to clearly see where this season is going. This is so massively disappointing. They arent getting past the first round. I bought tickets when they were rolling...costly mistake. Groce stock is tanking.

They aren't that good from the outside but they are big inside and will crush on the boards and likely get multiple 3 attempts per possession. I think Kent held them off because of Pippen/

Regarding seeding? I don't see how this relates to Akron. At worst they will be playing BG or Kent in first round. At best, play Ball State. That entire tournament is up in the air but Toledo being heavy favorite. There's a 48 hour deadline for

I guess it's called the NIT for a reason. Ready for this to wind up. Was a brutal season and Groce and staff learned the hard way which players were up to the task. Look forward to those J&J vaccines getting in everyone's arms and the chance for Groce and Co to build characters, good attitudes, and unity for next year. But there's still a chance. Go Zips.

I dont have any expectations this year especially if the Zips go 0-4 to end the season. However, if they are in the opposite side of draw from Toledo and Buffalo I think they have a chance. Also, if Zips win their first game on Thursday, the Groce magic may carry them through. But that first game is key.

Thanks for finding that. If BG wins both of their games and Akron loses both, then Akron can move down to 5th. Ideally, Zips get the #2 or #3 seed and have Buffalo and Toledo in the upper bracket. Kent winning 3 games in a row will depend on how Pippen's knees hold out. What if Akron finishes 12-6 and Ohio 11-5? Are they considered tied?

There was much trepidation about playing OU for 3rd time last year after beating them twice in tough games. PCCC and Pippen would be q better semi final match up. His knees won't last

If Akron wins final two games (14-5), they are #2 seed even if Kent wins their last two. Miami beat Ball State this season so would be an Akron v Miami first round. If Akron loses one (13-6), they will need some help from Kent. If Akron loses to Buffalo and beats Miami, they would need Kent to lose to Ohio and beat Buffalo and then have BG beat Ohio to get back to #2. Now if Ohio wins both games and finishes at 11-5. they would have a slightly better winning % than Akron at 12-6 (or would they use a tiebreaker which would go to Akron since Zips beat Toledo once and Ohio lost). Stay tuned. Once Akron, drops from #2 seed, no idea what their first round will be...probably Kent. If Akron loses last two games and finishes season 0-4, unless there is some 3 dimensional chess going on I think the Zips are toast and time to fire up the transfer portal. Was it 2 years ago, I thought BG tanked their game at the JAR because they were already locked into a top 4 seed? Of course, Pinky said the same thing last year...game didn't matter to him.
