Which coach could we realistically hire who could GUARANTEE success? Please give me a name of someone you can guarantee will make us a high mid-major. You can't do it. No one can.

Fair enough. I think we all go into this with eyes wide open. Jamion Christian would have been a fascinating hire, but Groce is a more known commodity for better or worse. And I'm looking forward to some sideline antics and ridding our program of the faux sincerity and the whining about how we don't get respect we deserve. Go out and earn it!

If you go back a few pages on that blog, you can read some really horrible stuff about Akron and how no coach's wife (Mrs. Groce for one) would ever agree to allow her husband to take a job here because this is a dead, failing, awful hell mouth of a city.

What exactly do people feel bad about? This is ridiculous. Bring this up IF he's hired and crashes and burns. When the out of conference schedule toughens up and we start winning some games we shouldn't and our players are actually motivated by an intense, firey coach instead of the "poor me" ..."I will bring one home for you coach" all will be forgiven.

Is he a hyper-competitive egomaniac. Probably, but those come in all different forms at the division 1 level. I disliked him because he beat us and did things Dambrot couldn't do for us. It's not like he's the awful Bobby Hurley.

I think any of these hires could be spun either way...The younger coaches are untested. To me it's all about how are players will react. Will he command and earn respect from them? Groce is now a wealthy man who could have sat out a year or two. He's willing to take us on.

Oh, I did. A friend convinced me to move out of my deluxe apartment in the sky and get an apartment with him because one of his 8 roommates had a cat. I felt sorry for him and ended up on Zahn Drive! I can match you ghetto for ghetto.
