  1. Isn't this one of the stages of grief? "Turning Against Each Other." Fanatics v Fans? Talk about parsing
  2. Well, I guess that's that.
  3. Oh, I always ask that! And if the person didn't actually attend Ohio State he or she gets a sneer or maybe an eye roll. I don't know about you all, but I'm done with the Dambrot threads. The new coach is all that matters now. I'm all for paying big bucks and getting the best...But with youth and exuberance.
  4. Right. This was a selfless move. Don't you see that? Am I the only one? (I've taken this thread off the rails.) So...Lamont Paris? Chris Jent or Chris Jans?
  5. He loved us so much that he had to let us go. It's like the MAC version of The Notebook.
  6. hell, I don't know. You can nominate me for stupid post of the month though.
  7. And Dambrot knew this. He couldn't keep the facade up much longer. I went to that surreal net cutting before the MAC tourney and listened to him speak. Something clearly wasn't right. He was going through the motions. Maybe he left Akron because he knew there was nothing more he could do here. And give the Zips an opportunity to move onward and upward. (And get a big raise and take a few of our recruits).
  8. AKZipper I totally agree with you. As a fan, I'm looking forward to something new in the JAR instead of stagnation. Each season was a bone chilling repeat of prior season. Will we go 15-15 next year with a few awesome wins and some upsets? Maybe. And that would be better at least to me than this ho him meaningless 20 win seasons.
  9. Wow. A Dambrot presser. Sounds riveting. Sign me up.
  10. Yes. That's exactly what I thought. Thank you for clarifying my already imperfect analogy.
  11. The best analogy I can come up with is that Dambrot decided to buy the worst house in a high end neighborhood rather than the best house in a crap neighborhood.
  12. I guess I should backtrack on my comment that the MAC isn't a one-bid league by rule. The problem is that the strength of competition in the MAC is so weak that you have to go OOC to find a quality win. If you go to a bottom-feeder in the Atlantic 10 at least you have confirmed two games a year against top flight competition. That makes the OOC scheduling a lot less daunting.
  13. I have no more Likes so "well said" Dr. Z.
  14. Dambrot recruited TDM when no one else would, so his loyalty on surface (not knowing any of these people personally) is understandable. And a big thank you to Keith for keeping ZipsNation basketball forums open and in business for the next 6 months.
  15. Seriously, what's there to panic about?
  16. I don't read Antino's tweet that way. I read it like he wants to break that cycle. Give these kids time to sort this out. Think about how all of us react hastily to a simple botched play or blown lead and we are just fans. These guys are facing huge change.
  17. And nothing against the players who leave if they do. I just don't see Duquense rebuilding their program around them. They are young and must have so many people chirping in their ears right now. I hope they have someone they can absolutely trust to guide them. I'm probably naive, but I hope President Wilson is reaching out to them as I'm sure the AD is.
  18. Agree with Roo in part specifically on the multi bid league crap. Whose fault is that? There's no NCAA rule that says MAC is one bid league. It's been lame coaches like Dambrot and Hawkins who made the league one bid.
  19. This whole thing was bound to happen to us eventually. He knows he will be hated. The players are learning another lesson in that "life isn't always fair" category. But I'm surprisingly with Lzip and OldCrowe let him leave and take Hughes and TDM with you.
  20. When you all share your "kudos" and "good lucks", remember his loyalty to the program could be purchased. And he is willing to take as many players as he can and decimate the program. That being said...that's how things go in NCAA division I basketball. And we will be there next year and will stand by all the players who stuck around with the Zips and cheer even louder for them than we have in the past.
  21. Can I buy a few more "Likes?" Agree with LZip. Spare me all the pleasantries. I hope President Wilson is making personal phone calls to Noah, Antino, and Jimond.
  22. Dukie...your timing is just a little bad. Give the Zip fans at least five minutes to process, accept, and move on. Do you go to someone's funeral and start giving the grievers the "objective facts." Go hang out with other classless people. Oh, wait, you are already in Pittsburgh.
  23. Nick Dials needs a job?
  24. Duquesne? Who can even pronounce it? This isn't bothering me at all right now.
  25. I guess all of us who wanted change just got what we wished for.
