Looked up McDevitt. He would be a nice, clean break from the past. But just doing a quick Google on him looks like he and his wife are lifetime North Carolinans. Wouldn't see them moving to Akron.
I don't want to be the gloomy guy, but I really think we are going to get an uninspiring assistant coach from some random P5 or mid major school. Remember, the high hopes we had for a young and inspiring football coach? Its going to be a name we haven't mentioned on here. #RainingOnTheParade
Can anyone analyze the Roberts/McNees backcourt vs. the Jackson/Robotham backcourt? It would help me gain an understanding of what the guard issue is. Daryl and Steve were also undersized, no?
Im in Phoenix with my family for the Final Four and spotted Williams and Tom Crean having dinner last night. They spoke for about an hour, and the waiter told me Crean was perusing a folder with photos of what looked like our players.
I just doubt an unappreciative fan base had anything to do with it when the $$$ is that great and the stakes are so high. We were all frustrated these last few years, and I saw no upside to his staying. He had played the LeBron and the 20 win season cards too many times for my taste. Did either of those cards get us a quality win or a new gym or a tourney run? He knew damn well that he left us with a smallish line up for next year. And his plan for the 2016-2017 season was weak at best. That's my rant.
What I'm realizing and maybe everyone else is as well is that these coaches live in a different world where loyalty comes with a price tag. What we are seeing is the cost of doing business in D1. To the players loyalty also comes with its own type of price tag...That may be more playing time and exposure. There is no allegiance to the fans or the school for some of these players. they also knoe we as fans will transfer our loyalty to new players every four years and now to a new coach.
LeBron is running the University and if he wants his former teammate as head coach that's how it will be? That would be really smart idea for University. Hire someone you can't fire.
This is all still so early and raw so let's not presume the failed season already. This could all turn for the better in an instant. Looking forward to building a team around Aaron Jackson. We may all come to appreciate Aaron a bit more.
All of this doesn't bother me that much. However, this has been a huge reality check for me on the nature of what Akron basketball and division I basketball is all about. It's like that old song, "Is that all there is?"
Livingston was more interested in writing his snarks than getting the facts right. But I think for almost all of us the sham of the 20+ win season meme was becoming quite clear. AND...One of you guys said the home winning streak was a bit of a sham as well since we only had a couple tough home games a year and those were against MAC teams.

Akron mentioned in here as one of two options for Groce. (Groce always auto corrects to Groceries)
That would be a plus for me. I really don't want to to see any of the old regime. As for Groce(which is a pipe dream) , the players would at least know he has the ability to get them where they want to be.
And I'm so, so happy that Wilson is making this choice and not Scarborough.
Candidates for the AKRON JOB - Terry Weligand, Brandon Weems , Jeff Boals , Anthony Stacey, Charles Thompson, Lamont Paris, Chris Jent
That list was great. But two of them are really tall. I don't know if I'm ready for that much change.
