What do you think about this Buffalo fan?
NWAkron replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
(At the serious risk of sounding like a BobKitten Blogger) my two cents is that no one has stepped up to lead the Rowdies. We had some dynamic, funny, obnoxious leaders who would get right in the face of the coaches. I loved the old "Erroneous on all Counts" sign with the crying Kent cheerleader (maybe I'm conflating two signs). And I think having the Rowdies n the corner with the opposing team was awesome. But then someone on here complained about the Band being in the opposite corner because they were too loud. Not much will change until some students are willing to step up. -
Fortuitous that Zippy was in the left corner at the right moment. Nice to see her in the clips.

Not sure where to post this but just read Warren Ball has another year with the Zips. Even though I attend all the football games, I'm not sure how big a deal this is. Didn't get to see enough of him to know.

Word. And it says a lot that he could forget his last mistake so quickly and be completely in that moment. On another note, Josh when not taking 3s had some good minutes

Of course, this heads up play by Noah followed that bone headed soft pass to Kwan that almost cost us the game. But who was paying attention?

It's on espn3 replay if you can access that. Personally I couldn't watch Big Dogs free throws. I sat with head in one of those purple towels they gave away watching the sweet old lady in the next section to see her reaction and hear from the crowd.

Meanwhile in Bowling Green, Kent State still...Well, you know. CMU and Buffalo are the danger teams in Cleveland.

I've watched it about 5x now. TDM pushes Michael Hughes out of the way and sprints across the floor to Big Dog. Exciting stuff.

I'm sure it's Basketball 101, but good job, Noah, letting that ball fly out of bounds.

Why does every team get hot from 3 against us? 8 point lead to 5 point. 7 point to 4 point. 6 point to 3.

Zips @ OU - Round #2 --> Feb 4th, noon tip-off
NWAkron replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Word. Watched.the Kansas/Baylor game and thought Kansas could never lose at home. Their fans holding up signs to that effect and then boom! It's gone! Start over. We are really spoiled at the JAR, and I'm not still not sure what makes that place so special. -

It was definitely when and not IF the guys would drop an away game. Not rationalizing but better a Noon game on the day before the super bowl than much later in season at Ravenna or Canada. As for the trolls, what's your win streak at the majestic hallowed Convo? Akron has a lot of rivals at this point. But OU has dropped down to 3 or 4 on that list. -
Zips @ OU - Round #2 --> Feb 4th, noon tip-off
NWAkron replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
The refs are so inconsistent. Kent and EMU had 54 fouls and 4 technicals. The Central/Western game had a chippy incident and words exchanged but nothing was called. Ive watched other games this year when the refs just step in and calm things down and avoid the techs. CMU coach was thrown out once or twice. Then I wanted Baylor v Kansas and the refs just let them play. I doubt the MAC players are just so much hot-tempered and foul prone than other conferences. -

Big bummer to lose. No rationalizing here. Let's just not make a habit of it!! That's the thing about win streaks (obviously) they eventually come to an end with a thud. Winning the close games gives the team confidence in tough situations, but it also has to wear on these guys mentally and emotionally. A nice blow out of Ball State on Tuesday should do the trick to get them back on track. Go Zips!
