speaking of Kwan!! may be best in different thread.
I don't know the man but from what i've witnessed running up the score has never been a Dambrot objective. What I saw last night is that at the end of the game is that obviously a couple threes and put backs coupled with a defensive stop or two can take an 18 point lead down to ten in about 50 seconds. Coach relied on his players to make their free throws and in clutch time at end of game we've been pretty good at that. (not sure any of what i wrote made sense).
I thought he one announcer who was a former WMU player was really good and right down the middle. He explained the game in simple terms, and it was helpful to a guy like me who never played, to hear him say...Western should be doing this, they aren't doing this, Akron is really good at this. And I know it's been mentioned before but those navy uniforms are really sharp. just wish they had put a stripe of gold on them somewhere.
Huh?
"In the end, WMU never gave up, and never surrendered, but Akron pulled out the win. The final score was probably not as close as the actual game, but it wasn’t close enough in regards to heart, either."
These games always seem to get closer and sloppy at the end. Lots of fouls and this and that. Start up the bus! Winning these road games just has to be building their confidence. Onward!
As a typical downtrodden Zips fan, I will assume the refs will get more heavily involved and start calling some touchy fouls on us just to make things interesting.
Thought there would be a little let up at the end of half. Wasn't watching. Assume Big Dog was resting the last few minutes of the half with two fouls.
Despite these goofs winning a few games at home, etc, our losing to a 6-12 team is completely unacceptable. We had an extra day of rest, we probably learned more about them than they did us a few weeks ago and our starting line up (God willing) is at full strength. The Zips know a loss cannot happen.
Dare to dream. A play in game in Dayton would be nice! I hate to talk at large because it presumes a tourney loss. (But that's my choice. Not here to stifle others ideas) And that selection committee errs on side of $ rather than a possible Cinderella who could knock out a Duke or Ohio St type and cost the NCAA big $$ in ticket sales.
Watched a bit of Ravenna/Toledo game. Didn't look sold out. Whatever. That is a horrible place to watch a game. Just getting in there and finding a place to sit is a pain and even many of the seats courtside are benches. When you walk in the JAR, and you are looking for a bleacher seat you can at least assess the situation.
Hard to know what MAC games to follow today. Guess I'm focusing on NIU and OU. I hope the Kittens win so their fans can come up for air and leave us alone on Zipsnation.
I DVRd the sports center story on the Zips, and it was really cool. All positive. Made our JAR sound like a killing field for opponents. I, having no life on this beautiful day, recorded it on to my phone and sent it to a few folks.
The lower bowl seats aren't "perks" per se. People pay a premium for them. The university just can't give them away. Best thing is to encourage the corporate donors who buy a block of seats to distribute them if they aren't used.
Speaking of free throws, do you all remember when our first point of the game was usually a free throw from Zeke? Many times he would make the first one and then the crowd would sit down in unison and he would miss the second. Always thought can't we just stand for one more shot!
Josh had a couple good rebounds near the end. You can tell that starting five feels so confident with each other on the floor like they have each other's backs. It wasn't a game I want to come home and watch on replay. I'm getting too accustomed to leaving the JAR happy!
That game is a blur to me. I sort of remember being sort of behind the whole game and EMU making some mistakes at the end. If anything, I think we have smarter, cooler under pressure players than they do.
Should have been a Yes/No question on whether Thompson gets T'd up tonight.
