  1. I believe that was also the 2011 team.
  2. I believe the closest we came was 2011 when the Zips beat a 1-0 Miss State team that had Rodney Hood and several players that went on to pro careers overseas. The Zips controlled the game and won by 10 at MSU's house. MSU was unranked at the time, but would climb as high as #15 before a losing streak late in the season. Probably the best start to finish Zips game I have ever watch (on TV that is). Harney had a break away dunk near the end of the game to seal it.
  3. That's a rather detailed and specific conclusion from one random picture during a game.
  4. Fearless forecast: Terry wins 0 - 2 games this season had he been given one more year. If I had to pick, maybe he beats UMass, but who knows.
  5. As Clark has pointed out several times, this is more than simply choosing between Bowden or Arth. It was clearly time for a change unfortunately followed by a very questionable, possibly disastrous hiring by the AD. Yes, Bowden beat Pitt and NW. He also had a lot of MAC games where we were not competitive at all. His teams were undersized and usually had no depth. After beating NW last year, Bowden lost 8 of 10 (including the last 5 games of the year) and failed to score more than 7 points in 3 of the last 4 games. Besides NW, his wins last year were an FBS team (Morgan State), a 1 win CMU team and a 2 win Kent team (Howard and BG). That Zips team we watched this season was Bowden's players. The cupboard was bare and after 7 years that is ALL on Bowden. Arth was terrible this year, but the Bowden worship is unwarranted He only won 35% of his Di games. It would be best for all of us to move on, Terry doesn't live here anymore.
  6. Thanks for the update on Daniel. I wish him well, but I will not miss his drives into the lane ending in a jump stop with him ultimately kicking it back out because he couldn't get his shot over taller defenders. He did a lot for the rebuilding of the program and was very unselfish bulking up to play much bigger 4's most every game. I hope his shooting eye comes back and he finishes strong at USC.
  7. I had to deal with him years ago. He's mean spirited, arrogant and has no interest in the truth. Once he gets the angle he wants nothing will change his mind or his writing. I don't know how the Beacon hasn't folded yet or become the Akron branch office for the PD.
  8. This team is just plain fun to watch. I think Tribble gives Groce flexibility at the PG position, especially against bigger opposing PG's. Also, it is fantastic having a another PG come in when LCJ gets too hyped up and out of control. Say what you want about Riak, but when you don't have to worry about him scoring, he is a solid back up center who appears to have fully accepted his new role. I have also been very impressed with Banks on the defensive end of the floor. He locks his guy up. It will be very refreshing to get back to watching Zips players like Ali and Tribble develop over 3, 4 or 5 years instead of the revolving door we had when KD left.
  9. Groce stated in the post game interview that he had wanted to get Sayles in the game, but YSU was playing 4's that were perimeter players which caused Akron to go smaller.
  10. I was just joking about the absurd amount listed on ESPN's site. Anyone checking for tickets on the University's site would see tickets going for $10-20 for a gen admission or upper reserved and $35 for lower reserved.
  11. After TDM, V Cotton and LCJ, I am not sure how to handle a full sized PG in a Zips uni. It's a good problem to have.
  12. Season tix start at $60 so buy in bulk.
  13. Zips 68 YSU 61 On another note, is there a reason the JAR video boards can't play a video that doesn't sound like the audio is recorded underwater? Exhibition season is over.
  14. I am afraid this is going to be a complete beat down by a Miami team gearing up for the MACC. We need OU to get knocked out of bowl contention this week, lose all motivation next week and have a team wide outbreak of SARS to get a win this season.
  15. Up 12 with under 2 minutes and shooting with 15 left on the shot clock?
  16. Very off night for the Zips. Ice cold shooting, the Zips-NCC program lists the top scorers for the Malone Pioneers, the pregame videos are too jumbled to understand, the score board had us playing Miami of Ohio for much of the 1st half and Sayles still can't box out. 2nd half has to better.
  17. Kato actually downed his own punt so definitely Sports Center.
  18. I think we finally made Sports Center. It looks like we just had a negative yard punt.
  19. Nice 4th down play design. Kato had a WR wide open in the middle.
  20. FF: Unfortunately, the TD free streak continues. I was at the BG game and it was tough to sit through and that was before the rain started. EMU beat Illinois 34-31 earlier this season. The fact that the Zips could not do a thing against the Illini makes me feel like another beat down is coming. Thankfully hoops season is here.
  21. High snap blew the timing of the punt. The first Zips kickoff was supposed to be a squib and the kicker put it straight into the ground. BG just squibbed it kicking the same way due to the wind.
  22. Sports Illustrated (back when it was the gold standard) quality, Dr.
  23. Thanks for the photos. Great work!
  24. I'm stuck at a wedding. Keep the updates coming. Thanks much.
  25. That's my guess as well. It looks like he put on extra muscle knowing he had to cover opposing PF's down low. Daniel seems more earthbound than in the past. Getting into the paint, pivoting, ball faking and then kicking it out when unable to get a shot up has become his go to post up move. I have a lot of respect for him staying with the program and sacrificing his game for the betterment of the team. I don't think he ever expected to be a 6'6'' PF frequently covering the best big on the other team most nights.
