  1. Well that sure is a good way for a “major” sport to attract the casual fan...
  2. Remember those words dre when the football/basketball season is underway and you are on one of your "Akron sucks so bad" rants....
  3. Hey....I'm way off topic, but watching the Timbers MLS match....any one heard any news on Caleb's whereabouts, any feelers, etc....?
  4. Kind of a crazy season so far. Weather forced the NEO Quad at U of A indoors two weeks ago. This week the track teams broke up into fifths and went to five different meets nationwide. Out in California Terrell McClain broke a school record and posted the top NCAA DI long jump of the season, while Jordan Matimer finished 3rd with a career best. Matt Ludwig, NCAA outdoor champion in the PV posted a career best, second only to Barber at U of A and 3rd best in the nation in 2018. Indoor season sucked....outdoor looking soooo much better. One more home meet, May 5th and 6th, Campbell Wright Invitational.
  5. The kid from Northland is John Branham Jr. A running back, senior. A little shy of 6' and 215#. Northland is a Columbus area HS, this kid is pretty hot for Pitt, but has also looked at Eastern Mich,.
  6. Or a "Big Dill" with Cheezits!
  7. I also was amazed yesterday to see how broad Brimage is! Didn't see a lot of him but the numerals 1-2 sure took up a lot of room between his shoulders!
  8. Great pics Doc! Thanks also. Sometimes don’t get to really see what the kids look like without the helmets on, and not close like you show us...
  9. Besides BobbleMatt I got a 23 jersey that DEFINITELY does not fit, a soctoberfest mug and a pait of slipper-socks with the little treadies on the bottem...
  10. I thought so too roo, at least the last 5 or 6.....
  11. God Clark, I too got sucked into the $5 grab bag and ....voila!....a Matt Head! But did get a nice warm-up pants, zip up warm-up top for a nice price, and more.... I thought the crowd was pretty nice, and they were into things. Nice to have some of the band on hand too. I thought Kato looked more calm than expected...maybe s little more mature. We'll see when the real action happens. Lack of personnel led to a fun look at Bubba Arlasnian running the ball! A 49 yard field goal! Kwads showed his winter muscle pull has no ill effects. A little chippiness out there as well! Defense definitely ahead of offense. Wolfley looked strong. Cooper carried a ton.Could not find a single Zippy cookie on level 7. George Thomas was actually here in person!. Our favorite female referee (remember Arkansas State?) comically had the clock operator add 6 seconds TWICE in the final minutes of the first half....IT'S A SPRING GAME! Running clock in second half....JoJo Natson was on hand too! A few Alums made it.
  12. Balsy...don't know if you did the same, but I - we- all played sandlot versions of "the game" because I wasn't good enough to make the teams. So the varsity games were a step up for me, to see the kids that were better than me play at a level I couldn't. I think your post mentioning the black-mirror, and the fact kids now can become "great" in a video setting, and that high school varsity sports can't hold a candle to the video gymnastics of the on-line game makes it boring for them to go live. Had a few Fat Tires after the Spring Game so maybe I didn't make sense here....
  13. Just a few hours until the Spring game, and I really sense a more casual interest this season than the last two. Not as much traffic on the Board, no "who's going?" "Any tailgating plans?" banter. Am I wrong? And if I'm not, why is the lack of more than curious interest?
  14. I’ll get a post up if I locate any.....Promise!
  15. I hope we don't get this way when our Kangaroos don't perform up to standards! http://www.foxnews.com/world/2018/04/20/kangaroo-in-zoo-dies-after-being-pelted-by-bricks-from-tourists-trying-to-see-it-hop-report.html
  16. Uhhh....club sport, not NCAA, not DII NCAA, National Collegiate Lacrosse League, Midwest Division II. Not trying to downplay it, but not exactly a national powerhouse. And...what % of Zips fans are excited about this, et alone a women's team? in the ASUN in the real NCAA DI?
  17. 2017 roster had 31 players. 2016 had 30 and 2015 28 or 29, I beleve...
  18. HT's right. This indeed is happening in NEO. I work HS B-ball games all winter and spring, and I am appalled when school rich in tradition in the area can't get more than 100 students, at best, in their student sections. And that's for their big rivalry games! Schools like Barberton, Stow, Hudson, Wadsworth, Solon, Mentor and more are having their student sections filled with grade-school kids whose Moms and Dads are at the game. I've discussed with about 5 ADs and they are all trying to do innovative things to get them tere, including dances after the games, free food, free t-shirts, boy-girl doubleheaders, white-outs and black-outs....they are frustrated, and the trend has been visual for the past 5 seasons.
  19. C'mon 'Castle....beat buflobo's (and my previous fave) Gunners!
  20. Spending my Sunday morning the same as you Zip_ME87!
  21. Despite the lack of talent in Cleveland right now, I can only see Ericksen and Letuli having a shot, maybe Coney, but mainly as a practice squad member....thoughts?
  22. Stop...just stop. Pontification does not suit you Balsy...
  23. Sad when the MAC Softball Championships are held at Historic Firestone Stadium, the closest school will not be represented, except for all the Communications and Facilities personnel who will be forced to work the tourney.
