Congrats to Toledo Rockets WSOC on their MAC Championship. KSU #1 seed got knocked out 2 to 1 Friday by BGSU. Awwwww. Zips WSOC will be a contender in 2019 and will surprise and make MAC final 4 in 2018. My early predictions...Go Zips!

Let’s get us some MACtion!!
-
Always a tough opponent, Eastern Michigan too a dual from our Zips this weekend, but we also were coming off a win/loss to Denison/Ohio State, so....Nogaj emerging as new go-to, and Paloma still on top. Diving needs to get their act together sooner than later. Nice double win for Fazekas as well, plus a second. Long way to the MACs in February, and all this shows is that it should be a very competitive meet for the title. 5 in a row still in sight as the favorites, IMHO.

Me too. How man of you agreed with me and picked Hiram as our biggest rival?

I know the MAC isn't the most glamorous, or high powered conference, but it just occurred to me how robbed I feel with this No-Saturday-MAC-games scenario...We didn't play today, nor did any MAC teams, but it seems like EVERYBODY ELSE did, and we missed out on the Saturday Football Experience, and won't get it again until 2018. I miss it.

Wasn't it cool that Stu-ees Dad was on hand when gets a brace on Senior Night? Got a little teared up on that...

Sorry TennZip....preaching to the choir here. I fired off a letter to the ABJ last May after they failed to recognize an NCAA Champion in our pole vaulter Matt Ludwig, local boy from Chardon....crickets from Exchange Street, then finally an article a week later. It's now to the point I think they purposely avoid covering us just to pee us off. The football forum is full of us venting about how bad George Thomas is as the Akron beat writer, and the PD's Elton Alexander is equally bad, but not quite as bad. They are only interested in covering the Indians, the Cavs, the Browns and Ohio State. They can't get it through their skulls that there is a unique void they could fill for a fan base craving for info on U of A. I wrote earlier about my travels and how no matter what city I am in, if there's a college in the town, I can pick up the local paper and know within minutes if the school's athletic teams are playing at home that night. Not here, ever. That's why we have so many fanatics on the Forums, because it's the only place to read ANYTHING about the Zips. Hell, the Kent Record Courier covers the Zips better that the ABJ does. As far as the Athletic Department, I'm not sure we can really blame them, as they do use social media and GoZips.com to try to spread the word, and there are the weekly radio shows that do try to cover other coaches that the majors. I don't know what other vehicles Larry and the SIDs and coaches could use when your two biggest newsrags don't want anything to do with you. Now you've got me all worked up too!!!!

One of the weird things I remember about that night was, you know they made a big push to get as many “crazy” students there, and then, just after half time they started announcing that the student buses back to campus would leave at the start of the fourth quarter!! We actually gave 3 students rides back to Campus because they didn’t to leave.

Do you think Miami will fare better attendance-wise than the rest of the MAC schools on a Tuesday night? Or are you just going on past home field advantage vs. us at their place. I was just wondering if Oxford is a better Tuesday night crowd sorta place.

I went with a 7 plus win because I think we'll have the lead by 14 going into the final 10 minutes, then hang on to capture #6. Deltron looked mighty good vs. Buffalo, and even Mill-weed can see he should get the bulk of the carries at the outset. And I think the D is playing well enough to not give up 3 TDS, maybe 2 and a couple field goals.

2017 NCAA D1 Mens Soccer Rankings
ZipsVoice replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I hate being the Negative Nelly...but I will believe it when I see it as far as the selection committee being kind to the Zips even if we are a top 8 team....too many...TOO MANY seasons where I've let them pee me off, and after all is said and done, the committee is made up of NCAA DI administrators and ADs from the BIG conferences, and we've been screwed over seed wise time and time again. -
What Do Week Night Games Mean to Players

And also going from past MACs at Cub Cadet, the second match scheduled first touch has been 3 hours after the first match’s...

Z.I.P. - thanks my friend, couldn’t go today or watch online, at a function, but watched your posts through the game and you painted the scene well for me, so,it kept me in touch. -
Guys, help me out here. I've read about the loss of subscribers over the past year and such, but I don't know how that is determined. I get ESPN products on my DirecTV subscription. It is bundled together. Even the basic DirecTV account has ESPN original. The same I think is for the cable providers. So how does one un-subscribe from ESPN without un-subscribing from the other products on the service providers? Are all these people (30%???) really unplugging their entire cable or dish hook-ups? I just can't figure how they can measure this analytic.

I'm not as good as Doc is on this, but here are a few of my shots from that Thanksgiving Day game, and I, like Rowdy Zip drove an hour north after the game too for Turkey Dinner! I napped a lot under a warm blankie that day....

Forgot about her. I remember her from the MACs a few years ago, and she was awesome then. Form is incredible. That explains a lot.

The Road to a fifth straight MAC swiimng and diving title just got a little bumpier, as Miami challenged the Zips in A dual meet Saturday, although the Zips depth will probably show stronger in the league championships next February. Nogaj was a big difference, and the relay teamsdid well. Divers are still getting there, but miss the automatic 1-2 punch from last year. Early, but a good wake-up call for the tankers

They also first got away from showing sports...any sport....and just talking talking talking....even bowling or curling would be something, or darts, or rodeo....SOMETHING TO ACTUALLY WATCH!!!!!
-
I too agree with you and zipsoutsider...Camara's name got called a heck of a lot more Saturday for being in on tackles or pressuring QB than any past game, at least home game. He really played well, and did so at Toledo to if I remember correctly.

Okay, back to a better subject....I was sitting there getting steamy, despite the cold, wet weather, watching the Zips collect stupid penalty (beginning with Junk) after stupid penalty that aided the Bulls move down the field. 4 for 49 yards. Then....voila! No more! The guys go it together and played penalty free (I believe) for the remainder of the game! Way to go Zips!!! and coaching staff too!

Did anyone read George Thomas' write-up on the game? It's like he's pissed off we won, and he didn't get to cover the OSU game. Why do they insist on sending this snide dude to cover us? Bring us Michael Bevan, or just run the damn write up the SID provides.
