  1. I know. BG is a more successful program historically but how it this going to be much different of an experience vs playing at Akron? Maybe he thought he would get better offers and had to settle here?
  2. Don’t know but I know there are a limited amount of games that open on Thursday so I assume there is some type of decent TV coverage. My guess would be espn2 or espnU at best.
  3. Saw something saying that the opening game in 2025 is home against Wyoming on Thursday night, August 28. Must have moved it from Saturday the 30th?
  4. That’s not a good scenario if you’re Ben Finley. Shor has been very shaky and Mann hasn’t seen a snap (I don’t think) in two years - I assume there’s a reason for that.
  5. I don’t care if you criticize him or not, I’m just saying that he might have some valid reasons for leaving. Maybe he wants to test his skills at a higher level. Maybe he wants to experience playing in front of 80,000 people every week - not 3,000. Maybe he wants to play for a great fan base that supports their players. Maybe he wants to play for a program with more resources than Akron - better staff, a training table, more coaches, more trainers, better facilities, more gear etc etc. And like you said, maybe he’s getting paid. Time will tell if it’s a bad decision
  6. That’s kinda shitty. Hate to see him go but wish him all the best. He’s just trying to better his situation.
  7. First off, full disclosure, I really couldn’t care less about soccer. Why in the world is the soccer “Heisman” voted on by fans that can click on a website once a day? It sounds more like a high school player of the week way of voting on an award. Seems pretty bush league to me.
  8. I have heard that most coaches are telling kids if you go in, you’re gone, they won’t have you back. They can’t sit there waiting for the kid to get in the portal and weigh his offers, they have to aggressively go out and fill that spot. If coaches allowed that you’d have the whole team out there testing the waters. It would be even more chaos that it already is!
  9. The athletic dept is caught in a whirlpool that they can’t get out of. I think they truly do want to improve the football program but they are so desperate for the money to keep the entire athletic department afloat that they can’t resist the big payday games. Vicious cycle
  10. I have also heard rumblings that this is going happen…
  11. Correct me if I’m wrong but the only position groups that don’t have a portal entry are QB and TE? Does anyone know for sure if Tahj and Finley are coming back? A little surprised that one of the TE’s didn’t hit the portal but glad they didn’t.
  12. Basically, most/all D1 football programs have a “training table” for their teams. A training table provides better food and nutrition vs just the standard cafeteria food that the student body gets. It’s pretty important for kids that need to gain weight or maintain a certain weight level. Akron got rid of their in a budget cut earlier this year.
  13. Jayvin James has gotten offers from Maryland, Georgia State, USF, and Cincinnati. He’s off to a good start. Looks like he’s gonna get his training table
